You guys do realize that she's still alive, ya?
Proof:
-never heard gunshots
-after Bear points the gun at her we see the woods flyby and it cuts to the same place they were standing only there's no one there and her body isn't lying on the ground
-Bear cried like a little bitch when they found out that Rye was dead. He could never shoot the girl.

I'm thinking that in the last episode she will come back and make everyone butt in pain.

Also, even though final part in the woods was an obvious Millers Crossing homage, everything before that was basically shot-for-shot remake of Adriana's death in The Sopranos

this whole fucking episode was just a huge teaser for whats going to happen next week in sioux falls, something that has been teased since s1
it felt like they didnt have enough material though so they had to draw out all of these boring scenes (scene in the woods, snitching scene, cancerfu scenes)
cinematography and dialog were really mediocre this time

>In 70's America? Objectively untrue.

While admittedly pretty rare, plenty of American men married Japanese girls after WWII, Korean girls after the Korean War and Vietnamese girls during the Vietnam War.

On the other hand this being America, Blacks still had a lot of "history" behind them, (and still do) so Black-White marriages were few and far between in the day (and are still uncommon).

Hanzee already owns Ed's bitch ass. He gave Ed the number to Mike's hotel room (which he got from Simone), and MADE Ed make that phone call. Dodd is already safe, Hanzee just wants to lure Mike out using Ed as bait.

A huge shootout will arise between Mike and Hanzee at a bar. Meanwhile, Ed is being a goof.

>He gave Ed the number to Mike's hotel room (which he got from Simone), and MADE Ed make that phone call.
If that were the case I assume we would have seen Hanzee near Ed, making sure Ed was saying the right things. Instead it was just Ed by himself. My best guess is that Peggy probably tortured the shit out of Dodd until he revealed Mike's location and then had Ed go out and make the call from a pay phone. I still feel like I'm probably missing something though.

>>63007210
this season wears it's thematic premise on its sleeve and it's a lot less vague than the general "light and darkness" theme of the first season, so i don't really know why you can say it's vapid

all of the characters relate to the 1979 setting and the political climate of yearning for simpler times in the face of complicated shades of grey, that's why reagan is such an important figure in the narrative and his appearance means so much to the show despite only showing up in one episode

in comparison to the first season, easily. it offers a snapshot of a particular point in history, framed with strong characters and entertaining direction. That in itself is interesting.

Actually they're all pretty well developed considering how many there are, the reason you're so far up season 1's ass is because it focused almost exclusively on developing only two characters

Actually it's the story of how the Fargo crime syndicate was initially formed, by replacing the Gerhardt family that initially controlled organized crime in Fargo.
>lots of political bullshit with MUH POST-VIETNAM MURRICA, MUH REAGAN, MUH NEW-AGE
So now you're complaining that it takes place in 70's America? Alright.
>so many deaths that you just don't care anymore
Not really, the majority of the deaths are just side characters, and many deaths should be expected given the plot.
>reddit-tier 'eloquent' characters with lots of literary references that contribute nothing to the general theme
You liked Malvo and a pointless Bible sub-plot that ultimately went nowhere, your opinion is more invalid than it has ever been before.

That's the problem though, There are NO main characters in S2.

That contributes to the Fargo canon, but not the Fargo theme. There's a big difference
>So now you're complaining that it takes place in 70's America? Alright.
You can make show set in any time-period without having to shove politics into it, you know.
>Not really, the majority of the deaths are just side characters
That doesn't disprove my point, you still don't care about their death
>You liked Malvo and a pointless Bible sub-plot that ultimately went nowhere
The bible sub-plot wasn't pointless, it was meant to show the small-town mentality and how they deal with morality, and it did so perfectly. it's the redditors who kept reading too much into it thinking it's some Da Vinci's Code bullshit.

Can somebody explain to me the killing montage at the start? Who were all those people? Who was killing who? It looked like the surviving Jew brother was one of the people doing the killing, but wasn't the mob boss complaining that it was their associates who were being killed when he was standing in the office from the very beginning?

It was a back and forth between both parties, but KC suffered the most losses especially in having one of their city offices attacked in broad daylight which is why they brought the hammer down on Mike.
>>
>>63012051
It's Bear and Ricky. Bear reports "ups and downs" to Floyd. The up is that they got some of the KC syndicate on their own turf. The down is that those three redneck dudes loyal to the Gerhardts from like episode 2 were killed in a montage.
>>
>>63012377
I guess this is one of those situations where having face blindness becomes a problem. Were the folks on the Gerthardts' side the three guys who talked to floyd while sitting on the sofa as revisited in the 'previously on' spot?

Right. So I suppose the takeaway message is that we're now seeing that Bear, though not as manipulative and sadistic in the same way as Dodd, is now *also* escalating the war and making trouble through being overly emotional and vengeful, rather than the comparatively level-headed person we had thought him to be up til this point? Getting three of their South Dakota associates killed for a minor hit on a random KC joint?

I don't necessarily know if it means Bear is escalating the war without Floyd's approval. Floyd seemed to be "in" on the plan, asking how things went, and thanks Ricky for his people's help.

I get how Bear knows where Mike is staying, but how'd the other two groups know and how'd Bear even know Simone was there?
>>
>>63013585
Ed knowing is the only one which is really odd. We know Ben Schmidt friendly with the local criminals but he just doesn't face up to them 'cause he's a shit cop, stands to reason there's probably cops, if not him, who know where the Kansas City mob is staying too. It's not like some small-time precinct is going to just waltz in and arrest them. Bear and Ricky probably just followed Simone.

Simone left quite a while before Bear though and I don't even see why they'd want to follow her to begin with since they haven't suspected anything of her until just now.

Only way I can see Ed knowing is he has Dodd in the trunk, and got the phone for his house and was the first two calls. He likely wanted to sell Dodd back to his family for a fat paycheck. Maybe Dodd then gave him Mike's hotel but I don't see why he'd want Mike to know where he is when he's in a vulnerable position.
>>
so all this about the hotel room number.

Anybody ever think that maybe Mike stopped by the butcher shop for some prime cuts and he and ed had a chat?
Maybe Mike mentioned the hotel he was cooped up in while he was in town.

Dod tells ed that mikes the mobster, he calls hotel and asks to be connected to mike milligans room.

Mystery solved

>>
>>63013958

>>
>>63014004
I'd say it's more Peggy being at fault. Ed got surprised by Rye and simply defended himself. If anyone should crash and burn for Rye's death it's Peggy.

I'm hoping she goes completely bonkers and just slaughters tons of people at Sioux Falls and is the "monster" Lou mentioned in S1.
>>
>>63013918
I don't get why the cops didn't just tell Floyd this.
>>
>>63013958
Peggy's a compulsive hoarder; she's quite seriously mentally ill but nobody can really put their finger on it, probably not even herself, because it's the 1970s and people weren't too informed about that sort of thing back then

It's heavily implied during his phone call with the mob boss (Adam Arkin) that his race has been a sore point with the rest of the mob. Note how he instantly chimes in with the slavery remark when Lou mentions some things shouldn't be owned- racism is clearly on his mind. The insecurities he has been depicted as having the longer the season goes on suggest that he's quoting obscure and foreign shit to gain respect. Which works, but only up to a point, as we see even Simone calls him out on it, something that wouldn't happen if his character was just for the memes or TD-style psuedo-profundity. It's the same reason he makes a big point of the fact he can use a typewriter and sound eloquent writing a persuasive complaints letter in Episode 2, in the 70s, and given the sort of upbringing he's probably had, it carries a fair bit more gravitas than it would now as painting him in an educated and 'respectful' light. But obviously as is shown when his accent occasionally slips into a deep urban drawl or when he kills the man sent out to whack him for his poor performance, he's really just a violent criminal fighting for his own like the folks he's supposed to be liquidating. Good character writing really, they've really built the characters and story up from the foundation that is the time period/setting.
