I genuinely cannot do horror films (or games for that matter) because I'm a massive pussy
I got excited for The Conjuring, The Babadook, and It Follows (absolute shit). I even had hopes for Insidious and We Are Still Here after they both got off to spectacularly unnerving starts. Each one ending up falling short of my expectations (constantly mounting dread, i.e., Rosemary's Baby).
But I'm still super excited for this. From the snippets I've seen, the authenticity of the setting, the performances, and certain plot points all look promising.
Hopefully I finally get to be there for the release of a crown jewel of the horror genre. Would be nice.

Premiered at a film festival I went to earlier this month and it's OK.Weakest point of the movie IMO is that there is genuinely a witch and magical things do happen, I think it would have been better were it just isolated religious nuts going mad due to isolation. Also the film suffers because it tries to be as accurate to the time period as possible concerning what people considered frightening and it just doesn't work with a modern audience. We don't associate cackling hags with witches anymore we associate it with mental illness, by the same token talking animals aren't frightening either.
It's very atmospheric and beautifully shot though, it's also clear that a lot of craft and effort went into it and they squeezed every penny from their $1 million budget. It's worth mentioning that it's Eggers directorial debut and in that context it's pretty incredible.
Anya Taylor-Joy also looks like she's about 12 (she's 18) so it should be right up /tv/'s alley.
