He can certainly push people in the right direction and can influence people's opinions in a normal fashion, but nothing more. He certainly is powerful enough to have won the battle of Pelennor fields by himself, but he would have been stripped of his power and status had he done so.

Actually in LOTR and The Hobbit movies Gando uses quite a range of magic:
- enchanted fireworks / illusions
- telekinetic staff blasts
- create light
- aura/shield
- weather control
- enchant sword (prior to killing balrog)
- pyrokinesis
- induction (heating Aragorns sword)
- stun blast (vs goblins in hobbit)
- remove curse
it is a popular misconception that he uses hardly any magic. When it's required he has no compunctions about pumping out a new spell.
