The Last Samurai. Major guilty pleasure of mine. It's an incredibly well paced movie, and I enjoy how introspective it is at times. In addition I pretty much loved all the characters. I love how utterly indulgent it is in it's own themes.
I watch them every single time that they are on TV.

I think you're greatly simplifying the narrative and story, as many of these events were directly addressed in the film in a meaningful way. You can quite literally make anything sound like complete shit if you simplify it, its like the first thing any pseudo-intellectual cynic learns how to do.
