Actually you're wrong, silent clubs have been around for a few years now. They're not big because obviously plebs need things to be endorsed by TV and celebs before they can brave something new but they do exist.
One I went to had several channels with different mixes on, you could tell who was sancing to what as you cycled through, it was quite interesting and you could pick out people with the same taste as you very easily.
I think they're pretty good as it allows folk to dance without compromising the conversation for those out to actually socialise.
