Like most people said, LA is just a huge transplant city. I got a shit job as a Production Assistant at CBS a few years back (no desire to be in entertainment, just needed a job), and I was one of 2 LA natives out of a group of like 25+ people. People from all over flock there for entertainment.
That being said, most LA natives strongly identify with it. You have different sections of the city that groups identify with, even if they are less well known than the boroughs of NY.
