How come nobody noticed these freaks running into a fucking wall at the train station???
>>
What is the canon reason for magical creatures or evil entities not appearing to muggles or just saying "fuck it" and going to the muggle world.
>>
they craned their necks around to make sure no one was watching, senpai
>>
Stretch their legs
>>
This was all written by a liberal woman so of course it doesn't even remotely make sense

why is it acceptable for grade school children to carry loaded weapons, torture devices, and failsafe rape drugs to school every day

people like to fantasize that they're the special ones who are going to get 70 virgins in heaven, but they are actually just virgins

Probably because Harry Potter was easily one of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects?all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>But at least the books are ggood though!
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King

I grew up reading the series but honestly I look back on it and realize that the entire series doesn't make a bit of sense and that Dumbledlre was actually a huge asshole who literally hired the villian in every book to be a professor at hog warts

Rowling spent her spare time writing a book that ended up inspiring millions of children and making her one of the wealthiest people to ever live. You spend your spare time waiting to post this copypasta in any thread about Harry Potter. Oh boy.

>Byatt - Ms. Rowling's magic world has no place for the numinous. It is written for people whose imaginative lives are confined to TV cartoons, and the exaggerated (more exciting, not threatening) mirror-worlds of soaps, reality TV and celebrity gossip. Its values, and everything in it, are, as Gatsby said of his own world when the light had gone out of his dream, ''only personal.'' Nobody is trying to save or destroy anything beyond Harry Potter and his friends and family.

Hired a villain, what.

He didn't know Quirrel had a parasitic Voldemort on his head

Then dude from book 2 was a fraud but not evil.

Lupin was a cool dude who happened to be a werewolf; he wasn't bad in the slightest.

Mad Eye was a tough mother fucker which was Hogwarts needed but he got jumped by the Doctor before arriving.

He didn't hire Umbridge, Fudge appointed her. Evil cunt though.

Snape was qualified to teach and Dumbledore had good reason to trust him. Also wanted to keep tabs on Slughorn for reasons.
>>
>>62814829
so like, why are the wizards okay with segregating the muggles and why do they put so much effort in trying to keep their existance secret?
>>
>>62814843

Aurors are basically CIA/FBI agents that chase the ones that try to do that.

Well he should still be better at running at background checks. I gotta submit 5 forms of ID to work in some fucking office. Dumbledore should have some magical system that can go "Oh shit this guy is a host for the Lord of Darkness!" or "Hey this guy is a werewolf, did you even ask him about his feelings about full moons, you dumbfuck?" He has a goddamn hat that can read children's minds.
>>
>>62814843
I'd also like to know what defines an animal as magic or not. Why is a unicorn magic instead of being allowed to roam around muggles? Its various body parts can be used in potions and shit? Well so do newt eyes and all that nonsense.
>>
>>62816596

Shouldn't wizards and witches have a spell for curing leg ache shit?
>>
>>62815995
>>62817235
It should be noted that Quirrell was a professor at Hogwarts before he had Voldemort grafted onto his head. You don't get your background checked for a place you already work for.
>>
One thing that didn't seem to fit with the rest of the mythos is the way that the Ministry has some way of detecting when anybody uses magic anywhere in the U.K. (as far as I know -- I guess Harry, Ron, & Hermione could've apparated to Belgium and kept off the UK Ministry's radar). Yeah yeah I know the argument "it's magic, anything goes," but a lot of magic is pretty minor shit that you wouldn't think would register on a magic-radar, I mean maybe one of Dumbledore's fireball spells would set something off but saying that they can detect whenever you use a short-range Accio spell is like saying that with a really big microphone the government can hear whenever anyone takes a piss.

Despite clocking in at over two solid hours, the movie fails to properly set up and develop its characters and their back-stories, there is almost no build up and, even worse still, chemistry between the actors here. - 0/5

Cramming in every "plot point" you can find in the book does not engaging storytelling make, and it's a wonder there ever was a third movie. - 0/5

Splendid. An entirely enjoyable pop fantasy adventure that never for a moment insults the intelligence. By very very very very far the best of the Potter movies, the only one that manages to capture the funky mad energy of J.K. Rowling's hogwash. - 2/5

I know. My question is why doesn't the wizarding world classify other creatures as magical when they clearly possess magical properties. Here's a list of nonmagical animals that were used in potions:

armadillo, bat, black beetle, caterpillar, cockroach, crocodile, dragonfly, eagle owl, eel, newt, horned toad, horse, lacewing fly, leech, lionfish, octopus, peacock, porcupine, puffer fish, rat, salamander, scarab, sloth, snnake, spider, frog, dog, wolf, tubeworm, turtle

If they were used in potions then they have to have some magical properties. So why not keep them from muggles too?

They do, but the Ministry or other nearby wizards usually show up and Obliviate them before the word leaks out and there's a huge scene. I'm sure it was easier in the actual timeframe the novels were set in than if it were present day. Also, many of the magical creatures are pretty dangerous and it's justified that the Ministry is protecting Muggles for their own good.
