Can we talk about pete & pete
What made this show so amazing?
Why has it held up so well after more than 20 years?

>Can we talk about
Can we talk about your raging desire to suck cocks? Can we talk about your extreme insecurity that makes you unable to start a thread without pleading for approval? Can we talk about how much funnier and spontaneous this place was before the reddit migration?
>>62809302
Fucking got him.
>>62809302
you seem super upset. I'm sorry reddit and the blacks are ruining your secret clubhouse. go back to your tmz thread pls.
>>62809098
It's practically a one of a kind kids show for the time and now:
single camera setup
no laugh track
shot on location in the Jersey suburbs
cast consisted of kids that looked like real kids instead of perfect models
GOAT tier soundtrack
>>62809406
Also, the writing was very good and never dumbed down. Plus they got really cool guest stars that high school to college age viewers would appreciate.
>>62809336
Artie (guy in OP) was the voice of Kahn, Cotton, and Joe Jack, honey.
>>62809406
Also a pretty impressive list of cameos, none of whom i recognized as a kid
>>62809467
He was also the wiz.

>driving to hoover dam
>using a toy of Baboo to beat the other family
>falling in love on a vacation
>knowing you're close by the sweet hum of hydroelectric power
Older Pete and Younger Pete stories meant you could appeal to a large range of ages. Shit was great.
>>62809626
Definitely. Few other shows so perfectly captured growing up in the suburbs. You had to use your imagination to make life interesting.
>those hot summer days, that's an episode
>trying to stay up all night, that's an episode
>learning to drive, that's an episode
I don't know that it only appeals to the suburb kids, but I know that's part of the reason I loved it so much.
>>62809098
This is still my favorite ending out of any of the episodes. It perfectly captures everything good about the show:

>>62809736
Yeah, basically just captured being a normal kid. Unlike modern Nick shows that are usually about kids living in LA and being involved in the entertainment industry.
>>62809520
Shit those glasses really do a lot for the appearance. I'd recently watched both Pete n Pete and that episode of Seinfeld and didn't make the connection.
>>62809520
Definitely channeling artie in that scene.
>>62809736
Also the neighborhood lore and being able to run around all day. I'd imagine it wasn't as popular among inner city demographics.
>>62809302
You mad? Why don't you downvote him.
>>62809752
It's amazing how "loud" modern Nick shows are compared to this. I feel like everyone in Schneider produced shows are practically screaming at each other all the time.
>>62809752
that's a great ending, even though he mispronounces Biloxi
>>62809098
I miss being a kid and watching SNICK ;_;

Toby Huss. He's also in Halt and Catch Fire.
Don't forget Iggy Pop, plays one of the kids fathers.
>>62809689
And it'll never be like that again
>>62810040
Don't forget pre-fame Buscemi played Ellen's dad.
>>62810064
The pre-internet and smartphone age was truly a different world.
>>62810064
You know, I can't think of a single episode of Pete and Pete where the characters were shown sitting around playing video games. They were always playing outside and having adventures.

Using adult alternative rock definitive added a necessary serious quality to the whacky kid/adolescent adventures.
I love how this show blended comedy and seriousness.
I've been listening to their podcast recently. Not really any of the same magic as the show, but it's not terrible.

For sure. This was my favorite commonly used credits song:

>>62810304
I'll have to check that out. Do they both still live in New Jersey?
>>62810437
Both in brooklyn I think. Again not like the show but there's a level of comfiness to it.
its twin peaks for kids
>>62810508
huh, i guess it kinda is

ARTIEEEEEEEE STRONGEST MANNNNNNN IN THE WORRLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDDDD
>>62809098
This show reminds me of summer nights and fall afternoons.
fuck you OP, I just downloaded all three seasons
I love this show.
Snow Day was also pretty good.
>>62812485
Sorry if you got the same shitty torrent I did. None of the episodes are labeled correctly.
