One thing that was impressive was the characters being so dedicated to saving humanity that sacrificing themselves was almost nothing. They did what they had to do. The practical effects were fantastic, the actors were actually rigged up to an apparatus and had to actually move and walk. I'm glad we got a really sweet song/theme from the movie.
I know there are lots of comparisons to Transformers films. The unfortunate thing is that the writing for Pacific Rim was equally as retarded as the Transformers writing. The movie was fun to watch but it was still fairly stupid. I don't think it would have been more successful if it was smarter, but I certainly would have respected the movie more.

It was alright. Would have been nice to see a prequel or sequel, but it was a great theater movie on its own. It could have very easily been total shit, but it wasn't, so I'm happy for that if anything.
Incredibly fun movie. I love the detail that went into the jaegers. The designs were fantastic and they looked great movement wise.
