This movie is bad, really bad. I finally watched it and what the hell? It's worse than I thought.
It might be one of the worst, most disappointing things I've seen, it's even worse if you're a fan of the book.
It's not even Star Wars prequel level of bad, it's worse, it's so much worse. FUCK YOU PETER
>>
>>62778964
>might be one of the worst, most disappointing things I've seen

you had expectations? i dont know what you couldve expected after the last 2 and king kong other than bloated stuff. the Dragon was cool Tbh thought
>>
Here's why it's so bad:

The Lord of the Rings: a movie with too much source material that they had to only include the most important and most interesting things.
The Hobbit: a movie with so little source material they had to throw in as much filler and bullshit as they could. It was 3 movies simply for monetary reasons.

I should have worded that differently, all of them are disappointing, when the first trailer came out for the 1st one I thought it'd be great, I never could have seen it being this fucking bad

>Go north. Find the Dunedain. There’s a young ranger amongst them. You should meet him. His father Arathorn was a good friend. His son might grow to be a great one. He is known in the wild as Strider. His true name... you must discover for yourself. Legolas! Your mother loved you.

Recently watched the 3 hour fan edit of the Hobbit

Really good imo, check it out

Only really jarring cuts are when It transfers from Hobbit 1 > Hobbit 2, It is very noticable, and there is a couple of scenes (Near the end of the Bilbo v Smaug scene is the best example, I think maybe in the movie It cuts away from that scene and then when it comes back they've moved) that have several cuts in short succession and characters teleport to different areas within those cuts

Battle of Five armies is arguably still too long even though It only goes for like 10 minutes
>>

Peter actually wanted to do this (rationale of course being that Dunedain age super slow, Aragorn is in his 80s during the war of the ring) but based Viggo turned him down for being inaccurate to the source material.

Stop trying to fit in.

Calling it worse than the prequels is stupid. All hobbit movies had great acting, martin freeman and armitage did a great job. Lee Pace and Gandalf were fantastic too. Honestly, only Alfrid and Tauriel were bad. The dialogue was also good for the bigger part, excluding shit like >>62779594

>>
>>62782678
The first one was decent, but shit like the rock giants took it down. Second was worse, but generally faithful. Last one just took a chapter where bilbo was knocked out and stretched it out for 90 minutes longer than it should have been.
>>
>>62782904
The first two weren't prequel tier. The third one was.
>>
Watch Lord of the Rings again without your nostalgia goggles on and it will be just as shit as the hobbit.
Peter Jackson is a fucking hack, and how and why he was given the movies to direct is one of the greatest mysteries of modern times.
2 low budget film school quality gore b movies and a shitty documentary and they hand him a massive big budget trilogy based on hugely popular and beloved source material, absolutely mental.
>>
>>62783096
>Watch Lord of the Rings again without your nostalgia goggles on and it will be just as shit as the hobbit.

Nah, the first one is so comfy, esp. the Shire part.
>>
I still genuinely enjoy the first Hobbit movie.
>>
>>62778964

Smaug being killed off in the opening credits, Stephen Fry's unfunny unibrow manservant Alfrid doing cringe tier comedy, stupid shit with Tauriel and Kili. Everything wrong with the film.

Also thoughts on Thorin's descent into madness? They got a good actor for him but I just didn't buy it when he was being entranced by all that gold in Erebor. Felt sort of lazy.

>>62783136

Yeah, the first Hobbit film is genuinely decent despite some of the changes, doesn't quite have a similar feel to Fellowship but still pretty comfy and with a good OST. I was annoyed when I heard Freeman would be playing Bilbo but he warmed up to me by the end and turned out being one of the surprisingly better of the entire trilogy.

My one complaint is how the camaraderie doesn't feel as real as it does in Lord of the Rings, honestly, outside of Thorin, the old Dwarf and the fat one, did anyone actually care about the others at all?
>>
>>62783136
First one is a decent movie with some bad moments.

Second one is a bad movie with some decent moments.

Didn't watch the third.

>>
Hey Frodo, did I ever tell you about the time my girlfriend, Kate from Lost, fell in love with a dwarf she had just met and ran off with him?
And then after she had talked to him twice, he died and she cried how she would never love again. Alfrid was there too, he was the key to all this. I'm surprised Bilbo never told you, she was a good friend.

How long are the Behind the Scenes in the BoFA extended edition?

Just curious because the Behind the Scenes are 5x better than the actual Hobbit films and I can't be fucked downloading the extended edition if it's less than a couple of hours of shit.
>>
>>62783317
>outside of Thorin, the old Dwarf and the fat one, did anyone actually care about the others at all?
The one with the hat was cool.
>>
>>62778964
Only saw the first one because of how lame it was, literally the only good shit was some of bilbo's house and riddles in the dark. Shit was so stretched and padded it had no point. There was no lure or tension in the story to make the audience interested. The action was tasteless video game shit, literally using video game sidescrolling cinematography, what the fuck.

Never saw the other movies, but there's just no way things went below star wars prequel levels. The only reason you are saying that is because you have long gotten over the SW prequels and forgot the pain, or the star wars disaster is less confusing because you understand how it happened.

There's literally no reason for jackson to have fucked these movies up, he's competent and everyone else involved in the movie had talent that was ready to go, he just fucked it up anyway. Once you get over how senseless that is, things don't look worse than star wars.
>>
Why didn't they make LOTR nine movies if they made The Hobbit three?

How come they did a better job at making the Elf ears look real in LOTR but did a piss poor job of making Elf and Hobbit ears in The Hobbit?

they are worse than SW prequels purely because they took such good source material and ruined it - frankly i dont give a shit about whatever stories and characters george lucas pulls out his ass, its not like Jar Jar Binks was was a beloved character the helped introduce millions of children to fantasy fiction for over half a century before the prequels came along.

I enjoyed the first one quite a bit. It was a mess, but I enjoyed it. I hated the second one and it made me tired. Got this coming from Netflix. I'm guessing even more tiresome that the second? Also is there more Godmode Legolas? Because I REALLY hated that faggot in the second movie.
