>I can’t really tell you what kind of host Jonah is going to be, but I hope you’ll give him a chance to show you. And even if you’re familiar with Jonah’s career, remember: that doesn’t mean he’ll bring the same exact approach to MST3K. I think a lot of you may be surprised. speaking of, i remember going to one of the cinematic titanic shows up in milwaukee back when the quitter's brigade was still putting in work (and go figure they all quit doing that after a little while =)
anyways, after the show finished (which i had kind of inadvertently fallen asleep throughout) in the theater's lobby they had a bunch of tables set up for the CT cast to come out and sit down at so people could walk down the line of tables and get a bunch of their swag signed by the CT cast (you know, the former MST3K cast, basically all the people who at some point had quit MST3K while it was still going on... well except mary jo pehl i guess)
AHEM. so yeah my brother is a MSTie so he was getting in the line to get stuff signed so i just went down to the other end and waited for him to finish up by the last table.
after a minute or so i notice that there's someone at the table i'm standing next to, so i look over and see that it's JOEL HODGSON in the flesh so i'm like "oh i'm sorry dude i'm not trying to block access to you or anything" and joel was like "hey it's no problem dude.. .. did you want to get a picture or get anything signed?" i was like "no thanks dude, i'm good" and then the look on his face instantly changed from =) DEALING WITH MY FANS =) to one of genuine sadness, as it clearly was a blow to his ego that i wasn't all OMFG I'M STANDING NEXT TO JOEL FUCKING HODGSON!!!! I watched maybe half a dozen episodes of MST3k, and I found them all painfully dull.
I don't know, maybe it's the fact the movies were obviously made by retards which is why the rights cost 5 bucks a piece.
At least Rifftrax, which I love, is ripping on new hollywood tripe that adds an extra level of "holy shit, this movie actually got made". It's gotten me through Twilight, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, and countless other trainwrecks.
But the difference is that these trainwrecks are highly rated by morons. Nobody is going to say "The Final Sacrifice" deserves anything more than a 3/10. It's a terrible, unfunny movie to watch, and everyone knows it.
Some funny commentary can't salvage it. I want to like the show, but it's so boring. The interstitial parts are bland children's comedy at best. Am I just fucked because I didn't watch the show when I was 14?
