I think the original three films were lightning in a bottle, the kind of thing that could only happen at that point in time and space. Even having said that, the cracks were starting to show in Jedi, despite the final duel between Luke and Vader being one of the highlights of the entire trilogy.
The prequels proved that not even the original creator working with total creative freedom and an army of the most talented artists he could find couldn't recapture the magic. I don't see how a mid-level TV director and the House of Mouse are going to do any better.
I won't pay to go see it, but if someone buys my ticket, I'll probably go. I don't think it's going to be any good though. The whole thing just seems like a cash grab. Jar Jar Abrams didn't even want to direct it until he was offered so many sheckles that he couldn't refuse. Now he's just going to pack it full of references and throwbacks because he knows the plebs will eat that shit up. He'll also sprinkle in some race mixing and retarded gender shit (female robot) to attract the sjws because he knows that even if the fanboys bitch, they will still pay to go see it.

Why do people keep saying this? It's a ball, it'll have little traction in sand. Even as an argument for the design it makes no sense, BB-8 ends up on Jakku because of a botched escape, it's not designed for a sand planet anyway.

I have yet to see the prequels. Saw the last battle between Obi wan and Anakin and that's pretty much it. Don't care. Grew out of SW a long time ago. Loved the originals as a kid though. Rather see superman v batman. And I probably won't see that either.
