Would it be worth a watch? Does it still hold up today?

No but it's worth it to see the forces that shaped the political climate in those days.
>>
>>62765631
Most episodes, yes. Some have aged pretty badly though, a few seem silly in retrospect, and a few of them are absolutely terrible. But overall easily worth a watch.

fuck off. twilight zone is GOAT and has shaped television history. it holds up fantastic, looks amazing in HD. watch it on netflix, just skip season 4

Hello reddit.
>>
>>62765792
Why fuck off when i agreed that its great?
>>
It's pretty good most of the time but there are some dumb parts that are relics of the era. Like a slot machine forcing a guy out of a window.
>>
>>62766053
wtf does that have to do with being a "relic of the era"

do you think people actually believed in evil slot machines back then
>>
>>62766053
good episode

That's a great episode. The weird belching noise the slot machine makes while talking is creepy as shit.

To even ask this question is silly OP, yes, yes fucking watch it, stop reading this thread and start watching it right now (first episode is amazing). Literally the best TV show ever. The writing is out of this fucking world, guys like Rod Serling, Charles Beaumont, Richard Matheson, and many other incredible writers just knocking it the fuck out the park again and again and again.

Sure, some episodes suck. Thus is every show. And when the show extended to an hour, the quality definitely went down. But again, all worth watching. It's the best show ever. Every show has ripped it off, every one.

>every episode is worth watching
absolutely not. although if you are a plebeian that regular watches television you clearly don't care about wasting your life, so go right ahead and watch the abysmal episodes i guess
>>
>>62766246
It used to be a common misconception that slot machines decided when you won and lost. This meant people thought they were thinking machines that could rise up.
>>
Holds up better than the x files

It's a thinly veiled parable about the danger of a gambling addiction.
>>
>>62765631
It's worth a watch! Some of the material doesn't hold up very well or might not be as easily relatable as some, but overall it's still an amazing show.

Wow, what an informative post

Go back to /b/. We have a live watch for every marathon twice a year.

Jesus Christ man, these weren't filmed in the fucking 1350 AD. They were filmed in the 60s. I'm pretty sure people landing on the moon or splitting atoms didn't think they slot machines would become sentient

It's better than any bullshit tv that's out there today. It's the GOAT show. Even the occasional episodes with stupid sfx are completely excusable because the show is over 50 years old. Don't watch it if you're looking for a horror themed anthology series, though. Yes, some episodes can be a bit spooky, but the show was about meaningful storytelling, not "monster of the week" bullshit.

>>62766053
What makes a dumb plot device in one episode a "relic of the era?" That's stupid. Besides, that episode is fun.

Do you people really not understand how an actual prop slot machine slowly creeping towards someone is something unique to that era of television and won't ever be sincerely replicated?

That was not at all what was meant when he said that.

Yes they're worth watching. Check out Tales from the Crypt and the Outer Limits too, both the old and newer ones.
