Just saw this tonight... Only good scene was the 2spooky4me mexico opening. once that tentacle porn started it all went to shit.
>>
>>62765128
Opening shot and train fight

good musical score too
>>
>>62765128
Scene panning over desert that used the main songs instrumental, only time I remember them using anything from writing on the wall.
>>

>>
Can someone explain to me how the Spectre ring traced all the previous villains to Bond's presumed dead adopted brother? It said something about DNA and autopsy and a bunch of other bullshit on Q's laptop but it didn't elaborate.
>>
>>62765674
>Score was bretty gud
Thomas Newman is a fucking joke and a horrible choice for doing a Bond score. The soundtrack is one third CSI Miami tier background electro spy music, one third holding one dramatic note for an extending period of time and one third repeating the theme song melody. Horrible fucking horrible.

literally scenes created to revolve around different suits daniel craig wears

he probed him twice. first time he said "if it works he'll have slightly changed perception, nothing serious". it's unclear if it worked.
second time he says "if it works he wont recognize anyone anymore" it obviously didnt work, cause power of love. it's still bullshit, but it was made clear

didn't feel like i was watching a bond movie. slightly better than last movie, which was shit. so its still shit. There's so much potential in this franchise and for whatever reason they dont tap it at all. Casino royal was bretty good.
This movie felt like a medium-quality britbong movie. it's like they're not even trying to make it appeal internationally anymore. its a shame. let's see if they pick up their shit with the next new bond. prolly not, its not the actor thats fucking it up, its the directors

youre probably referring to the widow. it was made clear she didnt love him and only stayed with him for fear of her life. she also never denied his advances. do you think bond shouldve formally asked her permission for sexual intercourse via letter? that's not how it works

I thought it was great. Bond films should really be judged on their ability to entertain, and for the most part Spectre did that really fucking well. Yeah there were flaws, especially with Waltz's character towards the end, but whatever. It was fun as hell.
>>
Casino Royale:
>Mads: it was MY secret organization that was behind all these nefarious schemes after all!

Quantum:

The writing on the wall was basically their attempt at an old school Bond ballad.
However those are usually sung by women, not gay men.
Male singers sing about how awesome Bond is or about how hard his life is:

>>
>>62769646

Pretty obvious they wanted a more emotional, vulnerable sounding song from Bond's POV m8. A big, bombastic, Thunderball-type song would've felt out of place given the movie it's attached to.
>>

>>
>>62769884
I only heard that the Sony Execs hated the third act of the movie and judging from what they wrote it would have actually been worse than the final product.
>Waltz wasn't actually Blofeld, but a guy named Stockmann, who goes on a long rant on why he hates Bond.
>Q gets captured partway through the movie and ends up in a cell at SPECTRE's base
>Stockmann also has a lesbian assistant that wants to molest Seydoux
>Bond convolutedly dupes Stockmann into thinking that his plan is going to fail, causing him to run back to London to make sure it doesn't.
>Bond kills him in an anticlimactic way.

One Exec even wrote that he didn't buy the romance at all and that no woman could replace Vespa.
Sometimes I think there are actually good people working at Sony.
>>
The long take at the beginning was pointless. It was clearly just the director and cinematographer wanking themselves to sleep because they couldn't give a shit about the actual film.
>>
>>62769957
Wow, then we get a far better ending than what they planned.
I'm glad they didn't killed Blofeld. I was remembering M's dialogue at the beginning saying the drones could never make the choice of killing someone because it's not easy". It was a nice touch to make such a callback without making it obvious.
>>
>>62769957

>Waltz wasn't actually Blofeld, but a guy named Stockmann, who goes on a long rant on why he hates Bond.

so was someone else originally supposed to be a surprise twist Blofeld or was he not even in the movie?

i always wondered, hes stranded up a mountain, in the desert, some village and always has a new outfit going lel

>>
It was shot exceptionally well, Waltz and Bautista were both perfectly cast, the train sequence was magnificent, Craig is still great at playing Bond.

It was just so lazily written. Everything felt recycled. His relationship with Madeline was just a less developed version of his relationship with Vesper, C as the obstructive bureaucrat was just an evil version of Mallory in Skyfall and the ending where Bond chooses the high road over revenge is literally the same ending as Quantum of Solace.
>>
>>62770026

>from literally the first second he appears on-screen it's obvious C is a villain

>it then expects us to forgive it for being too obvious
that was fucking horrible.

prolly wouldnt have been so obvious to me if i hadnt watched sherlock, at least in the beginning. then the whole "evil guy abolishes our flawed, yet good-intentioned organization" cliché kinda gets out of hand. loads of clichés, sadly, even though they seem to be so tryhard about being realistic/modern

I hat this recent trend of having the villain only be on screen when the hero is too.

Old James Bond villains had scenes that didn't have them bantering with Bond, but instead scheming or berating their henchmen or just enjoying their evil lifestyle.

I know they think it somehow adds to the mystery by having the villain not be on screen much, but that's a shitty thing to do in a 007 movie. See also The Man with the Golden Gun.
If Christopher Lee had actually been in the movie throughout, it could have been great.
>>
>>62770982
On another /tv/ topic, someone said Mendes gave an interview where he claimed that the audience can never be ahead of Bond, that they should find out things as he does. If this is true, I'd dearly want to read his reasoning cause that's exactly how Blofeld is introduced in FRWL, and how Hitchcock structured NxNW. And it's much more intelligent than Spectre where the movie is always shackled to Bond's pov.

Why didn't Bond just capture that guy and interrogate him instead of leaving him in the desert? Pretty shit thing to do, since that info could have helped them get Quantum and Spectre.

You know, as fun as the opening was, Bond's mannerisms were really out of place considering this was the first time we've seen him since M dying. The couch gag was fucking bizarre, and there were weird tone shifts all over like that. Bourne seriousness and cheesy Bond humor don't mix that well.
