Incorrect information that has sadly been passed down through fandom.

The real story is, when ILM was building the models for the A-wing and B-wing for filming Return of the Jedi, the script for ROTJ had no names listed for these ships. So ILM had to call them something to refer to them when they were working worked on, so they used the alphabet, and ship A was the A-wing and ship B was the B-wing.

The B has nothing to do with blade, just bullshit made up by fans.
