Should I buy this curved OLED TV? Non-curved is two times the cost :(

What is the point of curved? I'm shopping for TV's and will make an expensive purchase in the near future. I went to Best Buy to check some out and I don't understand the purpose of curved TV's. It just makes me want to bend the TV backwards.

I'm strongly considering the Sony XBR 55" that cost $1399, there is a lower end model that costs $1099 but its more plasticky and is missing some features, notably 120 Hz.

I don't know how many times we have to rehash this, 120hz is a meaningless joke gimmick marketing term. It is literally useless.

Looking cool as fuck doesn't necessarily make it a gimmick, as long as the manufacturer states it doesn't actually do anything besides look cool. Now, if your stupid ass is paying a 30% markup for a tv that only looks slightly cooler than a near identical model, then you've fucked up.

Virtually no television has either display port or HDMI 2.0, so it can't accept actual 120 hz input, it's using fake frames.

If I recall correctly, 240 Hz is bullshit, its 120 Hz with interlacing or some bullshit, but 120 Hz is real. As for whether it makes a difference is always up for debate. The guy at Best Buy guy said you will still get 24 or 30 or 60 frames per second from your source content, but it play more consistently because their will be less synchronized frames. Basically, the more refreshes the TV puts out the higher the chance the source device's frames will land on a refresh on time. Makes sense, but might be bullshit. Need to do more research.

120 fps is far out there even on PC's, forget about consoles.

I actually just checked, Best Buy guy was full of shit, they both support 120 Hz.
