Episode after is a flashback episode focusing on the Murphy's. A flashback to before the departure. Just like in season 1 ep 9 was a flashback ep.
Then the episode after that, the finale, will finally pick up where we left off. John finds out its Kevin's hand print, goes on a manhunt for Kevin, finds Kevin's corpse.
Later in the ep its revealed that the girls faked their departure and just ran away.
Last scene of the season will be Kevin resurrected.

If Garvey kills himself, Patti doesn't "win" because God just saves Garvey anyway. To truly defeat Garvey Patti needs him to go insane so he can't do his purpose, which is yet undisclosed.
Everything Patti says is a lie and she's deliberately fucking with Garvey's head, giving him clues then pretending she doesn't know just so Garvey remains unstable.
