Duh, she's a descendant of the Dark Ones.
Her heritage gives her a link to the book, as her ancestors created it. She has no problem bossing Deadites around because it's her right to rule over them.
But she can't exercise that right without the book. Ash, trying to run away from the evil, also ended up running away from her before she could track him down the last time it was used. After he used it again, she was able to home in on his location.
The deadite wasn't cooperating with her because they want the book to remain open so they can rule the earth and destroy humanity. She wants the book to use it as a tool to rule the earth and rule humanity instead of just killing them all.

Sure, the first one set the tone and it had this raimi style that we all like. And the third had more depth and story than the others combined.

I liked the first two episodes but they made me worried it would get old fast and just be a rehash of the second movie stretched out over a season. The 3D effect really made it look like some shit from a higher dimension.
One of my friends was interested in the show because I told him good things about it, but he'd only watched the first Evil Dead+ remake and I recommended he watch the EDII to get an idea of the overall tone.
So today we watched it and I got to see the joy on a person's face experiencing the hilarity that is Campell's performance in that movie for the first time.

So, most of the Evil Dead "continuity" errors are easily explained. (The first ten minutes of ED2 are a quick recap of the first film, minus the extra friends, etc.) We know that Lucy plays the daughter of the professor.
