One of my favorite moments in horror films, great atmosphere when they were isolated; shows how stupid it is to expose too much in this kind of films.
Oh hey, how about Prince of Darkness? It's another Carpenter movie like Mouth of Madness, similar but the theme is different.
There's actually a pretty cool article somewhere about how that movie, Mouth of Madness, and The Thing are a thematic trilogy, though I've lost the link.
>>62732794
>mouth of madness is lovecraftian
>the thing is taken directly from 1929 science fiction story "who goes there"
>prince of darkness is a movie featuring satan
They can't be a trilogy, bro.
>>62732929
THEMATIC. As in, there's a common trend of themes that ties them together. They're not literally a trilogy.

I just watched Prince of Darkness for the first time a few nights ago and it was disappointing, especially as a long time Carpenter fan. The initial setup and tension building were great, but once people started getting possessed and letting monsters spit into their mouths, I wanted to turn it off. Every character was dumb and everyone besides Donald Pleasance and maybe the old asian professor was unlikable.
I also liked the idea of the devil being held inside a mirror-like dimension that he had to be freed from, but having it be an actual fucking mirror is too on-the-nose.
Definitely far and away from the other two movies in the 'trilogy'.

I saw the movie before reading the mange. That's the only good way to do it imho. Everyone who read it first was disappointed by the film.
Lemora
Sort of. It's a really good movie. The town is full of vampires. Some are intelligent, others are feral. It's better than it sounds.
