It's pretty much better than anything else in the Prequels. It actually manages to take stupid ideas and make them interesting, like the Clone Troopers
It does suffer from some stupid kid stuff in it but it also gets pretty dark and violent at times.
Personally I'd rather watch the show again than watch any of the Prequel movies

It retroactively makes the prequels a thousand times better by fleshing everything out more. Anakin feels like the character he was always meant to be in the films. It's also quite violent and dark and tells a huge variety of stories, ranging from standard Jedi vs. Sith stuff, war movie type episodes about clones, space battles, political intrigue, spy stuff, heists and prison breakouts, and even Godzilla and Indiana Jones homages.

That show honestly surprised me, and while it can't redeem the prequel movies it did at least redeem some of the characters and ideas. Also the quality scales nearly exponentially, that fifth season is insane ( minus the filler ).
On the topic of those filler episodes, they are at worst just the inane jar-jar and droid shit from the prequels that Lucas tried to use as levity. A lot of the non-arc episodes are pretty good, only a handful of them I would say are "must skip" status.

The battle droids in the series are pretty funny and it works out better because it's a cartoon show for children. The "roger roger" battle droid nonsense in the actual movies was a big mistake.

I'm currently watching the 5 seasons for the first time for my Star Wars anthology before TFA, and it's surprisingly good.
I just started season 3 and it gets even better, and it's prettier.
Though if you wanna watch it, make sure to watch it in the official chronological order

Jar Jar has a genuinely hilarious moment in the two episode arc where he's partnered with Mace Windu. Mace is trying to concentrate with the force to find who they're looking for and describing what he sees in his mind, and then it cuts to Jar Jar just looking out the window of the ship and he just says in the most deadpan voice possible "Yes, meesa see that too"

Well, Lucas was practically making cartoons anyhow.
It is definitely worth watching but consider following one of those guides showing which episodes are actually good.
Season 3 and onward are mostly good
And you should watch Star Wars Rebels too pham, I have a feeling it is going to shape up well. Season 2 is already a lot stronger than the first
