ITT: Technically Impressive Films.
Say what you want about the content, but the design and effects were fantastic.

>>62720171
Fine, fuck you, have a different one.
>>62720172
True.
>film amazing stunts with amazing props
>shit all over it with a color-saturation cumglaze
Ghost in the Shell
Redline
Patlabor
It's anime but it's exceptionally well drawn.
>>62720154
The grammar and editing were lousy though, and that's more important in an action flick. Terrible color correction too.
The Thing
>>62720154
that movie would be better as a 30 minutes short
>>62720263
Nope
>>62720239
The editing was top notch for an action film, especially when compared to Paul Greengrass shaky cam shit
https://vimeo.com/129314425
>>62720269
why?
>>62720283
What does shaky cam have to do with editing? Mad Max has a really overdone accellerated editing job. I wouldn't be surprised if, like the oversatutated colors, this was demanded by the studio, but the film becomes a montonous blur by the second half, and it makes for muddled grammar.
>>62720345
The sped-up camera thing? Dude, that's a staple of the Mad Max films.
>>62720345
> I wouldn't be surprised if, like the oversatutated colors, this was demanded by the studio
The studio just didn't want it to be in B&W, it was Miller's decision to make everything look radioactively bright as a response.
Russian Ark, and to an extent, Birdman.
>>62720364
Huh? I don't think you know what editing means.
>>62720370
Guess Miller just sucks then.
>>62720371
Russian Ark is without competition. That shit is thought at school as a subject.
>>62720345
>What does shaky cam have to do with editing?
So editing all that footage in the cutting room is a lot easier?
>>62720594
We're talking about the editing in a finished project. Stop pretending you know what you're talking about.
>>62720700
And what is your gripe with it anyway? The editing is too fast? What do you expect from an action movie?
>>62720790
My complaint was that it pushes it to the point of overkill, and that coupled with bad grammar, it makes it a headache to watch. Plenty of good action films employ accellerated editing. This one just did it poorly.
>>62720229
>Redline
Been meaning to watch that.
Those POV shots were amazing, considering they were done on 35mm
>>62722186
>that fucking opening titles
I can fucking imagine how this would be in theatre
>>62720239
The editing literally deserves an Oscar. The movie itself doesn't, but god damn, could you make a stupider comment?
there is nothing sadder than watching a bunch of shut-in failure film "enthusiasts" from /tv/ argue over the production of a movie while knowing next to nothing about how movies are actually made
>>62722248
yes there is, there are youtubers who do the same thing but actually act pretentious about it
>>62720239
>>62720345
Goddamn you you stupid sonofabitch, the editing is literally the best element of the movie and is 10/10
>>62721458
You should, it's amazing.

Shoulda put this in the OP, but here's the B-Roll.

Rush
The costumes, hair/makeup, editing, cinematography (especially during the racing scenes) were all 10/10
