i've seen the first season of this show like 3 times, but every time Bullock's wife shows up at the beginning of season 2, the show hits a brick wall for me and I've never actually finished the show.

The town in real life burnt down, this would have been a fitting end to the show.
In the final scene Al is seen holding a lit match and he nods and winks to the camera and says "I must go, my planet needs me" then he morphs into a car and floats up into space
im watching again right now .. so many notable characters on this show. The writing is amazing! HBO fucked up not giving it a 4th season.

HBO had no choice in the cancellation. Contractual fuckup meant more than half the cast was able to lock themselves into contracts for other projects as far away as they could get the second filming finished on season 3.

Season 1 was a perfect. The rest was good but didn't have the same level of pacing or the perfect sense of coming full circle. Plus this guy was easily the best character and his screen time diminished almost to nothing.
