It was actually a pretty embarrassing, or rather pretty darn stupid bicycle accident... luckily that stake (which stuck out from a broken wooden lattice fence), thick as it was, didn't do any lasting damage cause it went in right between my tibia and the front part of my calf muscle – no major blood vessels there but the risk of periostitis was still very real. Left a pretty darn large scar though.

It's not a particularly good film. The novel was a surprise success that was deemed rather "transgressive" when it was released. But actually it's to transgressive literature what "Fifty Shades" is to actual erotic literature. Not half as badly written, mind you.
Still, if you take out the overtly sexual stuff, it's basically a heavy-handed "muh fucked-up childhood" story with lots of "wacky" elements strewn in.
And the movie itself?
