It takes place directly before A New Hope, so like thirty years or whatever before The Force Awakens. The plot is about the rebellion stealing the plans to the Death Star that they use to plan the assault on the Death Star in A New Hope.
I'm actually way more excited about this film than The Force Awakens. Director is good, cast looks great. Synopsis sounds like a classic war film with a sci-fi twist, which I could totally get behind.
