Uh, I think it is though. It's based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a companion book to the main books which is like a bestiary for all the monsters in the Harry Potter universe and exists in the universe as an actual book as well, and the movie is about the guy traveling around and identifying them (I suppose).
I've never read a Harry Potter book or given a shit about the continuity of the films (I do enjoy them as standalone adventure movies though), but I have read this book because in-universe shit fascinates me. There are some real fucking neato monsters that don't appear in the books or movies.
