Who is the Nietzsche from cinema?
I'm looking for a film that is visually poetic and deep, but not effeminate.

Anon is correct, its Nolan
For the film look no more
All wrong.
It's Fincher.
>edgy and cynical themes
>violence and 2deep4u messages loved by young adults
>stigmatized to a degree for his sucess and popularity, but in the end still a good director
>>62694030
>i don't know what cynical means
>>62694288
Yeah m8, se7en definitely is not based entirely on the notion that the everyone is fucked up in their own way.
And fight club definitely does not have a cynical view of the corporate culture.
>>62694348
was more talking about nietzsche
>>62690357
It'd be absoloutley fucking retarded to do one. How do you even film a philosophy book, imagine trying to film Hegel.
>>62694368
Yeah, I guess there is nothing cynical about saying that the basis for the entire Western Christian society is immoral.
pls
>>62694375
Have you read TSZ? It's theoretically filmable, since it's basically 10% "zarathustra encountered an X" and 90% monologue followed by"and thus spoke zarathustra", it's technically a work of fiction.
>>62694408
if you think Nietzsche is saying that christianity is immoral you did a very shitty reading of him considering his numerous criticisms against morality itself
>>62694466
“Cynicism is the only form in which base souls approach honesty.”

You guys are fucking retards.
>>62694489
please explain what you think he means there and how it means that nietzsche is cynical
>>62694532
>>62694489
also, admit it, you found that quote after googling nietzsche and cynicism just to find some evidence for your completely uninformed position
>>62694532
It's a statement that reminds me of depressive realism.
What I think it means is that in order to perceive yourself and others honestly at a basic level one must accept the "immoral" parts of humanity as inherent, not consequential.
Which is deeply cynical.
>>62694571
How is my admission to that going to change anything?
I guess that just shows that my position is much easier to defend as quotable evidence is literally one google query away.
Its Nolan
TDK Joker is literally Nietzsche - intelligent nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor

>What I think it means is that in order to perceive yourself and others honestly at a basic level one must accept the "immoral" parts of humanity as inherent, not consequential.
It doesn't seem like something nietzsche would mean, honestly. The typical cynical position of "wow everything is shit nobody is nice and everything is bullshit life sux" generally recognizes the typical moral values as good(aka "be nice") and the pessimistic outlook it confers is due to the failure of the universe to live up to them. Nietzsche does not hold the "moral" values.
It's much more likely that he's saying that cynicism from "base souls" (christians, democrats, englishmen, etc) is much closer to the true values that they hold(devaluation of the world), i.e they're being honest. "Base souls" means unrefined individuals. If he meant what you think he meant he would have written it like
>Cynicism is the only form in which the soul approaches a basic level of honesty
>How is my admission to that going to change anything?
it would be funny if I were right, that's all
>>62690357
It's very feasible, but probably would have had to be filmed like 50 or 60 years ago to have been taken seriously (or be good)
Modern style just doesn't fit the story well enough imo
