Which is what I fear, but part of me was hoping the show's premise, dorky nerd "develops" as a person and gets the girl, was going to finally focus on Sheldon and we'd at least get some sign the show was approaching the end-game.
I mean it might very well be Amy, but unless this whole breakup thing is going to make Sheldon or Amy better people (unlikely given the past two episodes) it's just a huge filler arc.
