Not a Force power, but I hope they at least show some technique that is based on turning the lightsaber off during a duel. It's the one of the few unique properties about the weapon but is very rarely seen being utilized in combat even in the big ass pile of EU shit.

What is your actual opposition to these powers? Battle Meditation makes sense considering that mind tricks/telepathy are firmly established in canon. It's basically a cohesion/morale boost created by a strong user of the force. Just a Star Wars version of a General unit in every RTS game ever.
And where would you draw the limit on Force Absorb? Jedi use the force to create and expel energy (shock waves, lightning etc), shouldn't it make sense they could absorb any and all pure energy?

It's just too silly and too close to some sort of weird mind control. It gives too much power to force users and the force was a lot more subtle in OT. Confusing one guy with a mind trick is one thing, mass mind control is too much. Nothing like that is ever shown in the movies, and if such a power existed, it should and would have been abused by the Sith. I wouldn't mind some sort of 1 person "battle meditation/link" between two Jedi, or a Jedi and a Force Spirit, but let's not turn Jedi into X-Men.

Same shit. Jedi are mystical monks, not X-men. So far absorption was only done really by Yoda, the strongest Jedi ever according to Lucas, and it's only used to counter the force. And it's fine and makes sense, it's literally meant to evoke wizards fighting with and dispelling magic. Yoda vs Dooku/Sheev canceling their force powers is a struggle of force mastery. So Yoda being so powerful/skilled he can shut down offensive force abilities fits in well with the lore and the theme.
Absorbing lightsabers/blaster bolts is too much, especially since 95% of all Jedi died to energy based weapons and if they could deflect/absorb energy, they fucking should have.
Also, Palpatine was described by Lucas as a dark sorcerer, the opposite of Yoda and that's more or less what he was in RotJ. Didn't need a weapon, because he is so powerful he can twist the force to manifest lightning. That's something never seen before, and should have stayed that way, a darkside Sith only ability. It was enough to show the darkside and the Sith are so twisted they can do crazy unnatural things like conjuring lighting.
In short, the Force, in general should have stayed more subtle, and that is something that EU is sorely lacking. Baring special cases, it works best if Jedi use it an enchantment of their natural abilities rather than comic book power set. The only really crazy shit was lightning, and even that makes perfect sense for Palpatine.

I actually agree with what you are saying about the powers being OP, and that they shouldn't be overused.
I don't want to see every mook with midichlorians absorbing lightsabers and controlling armies with his mind. But I do think these aspects of the force have potential if used sparingly and correctly.
I don't want to harp on about the EU, but one aspect I liked about it, was that force sensitives were on a wide scale on how proficient they were at manipulating certain aspects of the force. Some were naturally proficient at telekinesis, some for telepathy, others for prophetic visions and some for physical augmentation. I think this was the feeling that the OT gave, that the force manifested in different types of powers and abilities for different users. But then the prequels came and stuffed that up by having Yoda do flips and shit.

In any case, I don't mind the different people having different strengths when it comes to the Force notion. The way I saw it though the stronger/attuned one is in the Force the stronger one is in all Force related stuff, from telekinesis to saber combat. That's the impression I got from Luke's training and Yoda's wisdom.
Of course, this may be skewed, since the OT has few Jedi, and the ones we do meet are some of the strongest to ever live in the Star Wars universe, so they were all bound to be powerful.

Lightsabers are really inconsistent in the first three films. Luke whacks a rail in the end duel of Return of the Jedi and it doesn't get cut. I'm fairly certain that Luke clipping Vader's shoulder was just that. I've never heard anything about Vader's armor being lightsaber-proof. The old movies are just inconsistent.
