why are AoD and Evil Dead considered fedoracore? They're goofy and lighthearted, isn't that the opposite of serious edgy grim films (watchmen or Von trier flicks)
>>
>>62650884
They're meme movies you dip.

This is a different flavor of fedoracore. "muh fun" is fedora just as much as "muh serious movies for 16 year olds".

Also Von Trier is hated by fedoras. Too alienating for "movie buffs". He is more likely to be called "pretentious" by them. The key to "deep" fedoracore is that while wearing a facade of being serious and too hard for the mainstream it's actually very easily digestible. So you get a lot of blockbusters and thrillers with a lot of serious "acting" and somber music and it's suddenly artful to them.

View Carpenter, Raimi, Cameron as the fedora kings every bit as much as PTA, Nolan and Finchertino. These directors make the fedora's "fun" dessert. Which he loves just as much as his main course.

You guys reckon there's any literal kids 15 or under on here being retardedly influenced by arbitrary charts like this?

So many new friends on this board today.

It's post ironic. The kind of irony you can believe in. They have emotional truth.
>>
>>62651152
That's my point anon, I know I was using 4chan as an edgy teenager and it's a shame to think that kids these days might see a chart and take it to heart.

so we'll bait him. because he can take it. a watchful shitposter. a dark irony.

If you've been here for less than 5 years you're new. Also even if you have been here for 5 years, if you've been spending less than 4 hours a day here for that time period then you are also new.

If this is considered hipster scarfcore, what chart do the works of Wes Anderson, Jean-Luc Godard, Robert Bresson, and Sofia Coppola fall into?

But that's the inverse of the true. Lars Von Trier's films reasonate exactly with the pseudo-intellectual letterbox cinephiles who are yet to grow out of their "autheristic shock-exploitative" cinema phase - they aren't even developed mentally to enjoy a Haneke or Korine, who are undoubtedly much superior autheurs regarding the cinematic aesthetics.

The same people who write 5 star reviews for Nolan and Tarantino flicks are right now watching Dogville, sitting on their padded chairs, munching their buttered popcorn and wondering how many balls it took for LVT to make a film using minimalist scenario despite this being done countless times notably in Wittgenstein (Jarman, 1993).

Figures they would.
>>
>>62651231
Sofia Coppola is nothing like those other three
>>
>>62651350
I don't think anybody does. It doesn't belong on the chart. There is a different between "most fedora movies" and "fedora essentials". GBA is most fedora but not a fedora essential. There's a difference between the films that most embody the fedora culture and the movies that a fedora would list as his favorites.
