I gotta say I'm pretty hyped for this movie. The cinematography looks beautiful from the trailer
will leo finally get his oscar for this one?
>>62647492
This is my most anticipated of the year and he has a chance knowing the academy, but I don't know if it'll be deserved. It looks like your typical Leo performance desu.
>>62647492
pretty much guaranteed nomination, no matter how much he sucks in it. i don't know any of the other potential candidates though.
>>62645021
one of the best trailers I've seen in a long time. if it had more Injuns whooping it up with the panting it would be perfect.
>>62647492
Yes.
>>62647492
yup, this is it.
This trailer has done it for me, I need to see this now
>>62649337
It's funny because it pretty much gives away the whole movie, but I still really want to see it.
>>62645021
I've been anticipating this since i first saw the trailer
>>62645021
Fucking hell, that was an amazing trailer.
>>62649163
How many times will his voice crack in anguish?
>>62645021
Still excited for the movie but I wish the trailer didn't spoil the entire fucking plot.
>>62649439
Lel.
>>62649469
>>62649361
>it pretty much gives away the whole movie
nothing more than what they give away in the blurb about the movie when you google the title
also this movie is about Hugh Glass, a folk legend, who did a lot more than what you saw in the trailer
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_Glass
>>62649536
>nothing more than what they give away in the blurb about the movie when you google the title
There's giving away the blurb and then there's showing essentially the first 90 minutes of the movie in three second flashes. I'm not really mad like that other guy but it is what it is.
>>62649536
>huge ass
looks incredible but judging by the trailer a major plot point will beHE DUN KILLED MUH BOYwhich is kind of disappointing
>mfw Tom gets Best Supporting ActorOr Benicio Del Toro in Sicario
>Leo gets nothing again
>that lubezki cinematography
is this seriously the first thriller movie about new world fur-trappers/mountain-men?
>>62649629
It's not. Holy fuck, get informed, you dipshit.
>>62649764
McCabe & Mrs. Miller is very similar I guess.
>in select theaters Dec 25th
>wide release Jan 8th
so by select theaters do they mean oscar screenings only?
>>62649798
>In 1823, fur trapper Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) is mauled by a bear while hunting in what will become the Dakota Territory. His companions rob him, murder his young half-Native American son, and leave him to die, but he survives and sets out on a 200-mile trek to get revenge on the men who betrayed him and find the man (Hardy) who killed his son
>His companions rob him, murder his young half-Native American son, and leave him to die,
>murder his young half-Native American son
>closeup of diCaprio in the trailer saying"They took my boy"
I'm sorry, exactly which part of that doesn't correspond to what I said?
>>62649835
they mean New York, LA, other arthouse theaters.
>>62649673
It doesn't look impressive at all. Fuck off.
>>62649879
>STOP HAVING FUN
>>62649879
You're a fat nigger. Stick to raping and murdering.
>>62645998
Yeah this could be the first movie I see in cinemas in over 3 years
>>62649876
fuck. Why don't they just release it on Dec 25th? How is it good for them to wait 2 weeks between screening and releasing the movie?
>>62650197
It costs money to keep movies in thousands of theaters and this one has a better chance of being a success in January than opening in a bloated Christmas market. Tarantino's doing the same exact thing.
>>62650197
Fox is already releasing Joy that date plus the manchildren and plebs will be too busy jerking off to Meme Wars
>>62650197
Just wait, you entitled little cunt.
>>62645021
How the fuck does Tom Hardy have a totally different voice for every movie?
>>62650197
Fox is banking on it getting rave reviews from the screenings
>>62650301
Some big vocal chords probably
>>62649879
just stop
Looks good but reminded me why I don't usually watch trailers. Spoils so much.
>We did what we had to do.
>He was buried right.
doesn't look like it to me
>>62650427
Whenever I see the trailer I get legitimately mad every time he says that. Tom Hardy is so easy to hate.
>DUDE NATURAL LIGHTING LMAO
no mater how good leo performance will be /tv/ will meme about it
>>62650427
he didnt die so good
>>62649673
>filmed with this
hnng
>>62649361
The trailer doesn't give away the whole movie, just the premise. Everything it gives away happens in the first 10 minutes of the movie.
>>62650427
>literally just threw some dirt on him and called it good
At that point why even bury him at all? Fuck that was so lazy.
>>62650911
>not on 70mm with an anamorphic lens
>>62650959
I doubt Hugh demonstrates his heroism, pisses off Tom Hardy, gets mauled by a bear, gets left for dead, watches his son die, claws his way out of a hole, cries over his dead son, and searches for the man responsible with his Indian guide happens in the first ten minutes.
>>62650427
reminds me of that norm macdonald bit about serial killers and shallow grave
>>62651002
it's 2 hours 31 minutes long so even if all this happens over the first 90 minutes you still have a good hour for the climax/rest of it
>>62650911
>not on film
plz
Think about this now
Leonardo DiCaprio fighting a cgi bear
That's a thing that exists.
>>62651408
what are they going to do, use a real bear? Make it pretend to violently attack him, and react to being fake-shot?
trained grizzly bears have killed their handlers on-set before
>>62651408
>cgi
out there it's bling bang homie
apparently this has had a pretty troubled production, particularly because of their decision to use natural lighting
>Crew defections, brutal cold, a global search for snow and even a naked actor dragged on the ground — 'Birdman' director Alejandro G. Inarritu responds to critics of his ambitious methods: "When you see the film, you will see the scale of it. And you will say, 'Wow.'"
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/how-leonardo-dicaprios-revenant-shoot-810290
>>62652054
sounds like Heaven's Gate all over again.
Tom hardy got in a fight/"wrestling match" with Alejandro Inarritu during filming.
he said:
>“When things get a bit too serious, I go, ‘Why don’t we have a cuddle in front of all these people here?’ It ends with both of us falling down in the snow. I think that’s a good thing. If I’m the naughty boy for doing that, then I’d rather be the naughty boy and release that tension… He’s unlike any director I’ve ever worked with. He sees things how he sees them, so to give him back what he wants is quite an interesting experience. It could drive you f—ing nuts.”
I thought this movie would follow what really happened to him.
Instead they gave him a half-native son and fucked up a bunch of other things. What a waste.
>>62652769
I hope he got spanked during the post-production
>>62650983
Kekoldino, plz
>>62651318
go to bed, gramps, it's 2015
>>62652903
yeah it looks like they just made up a lot of the story, but a lot of the stuff "that really happened to him" sounds kind of made up too. Like how could someone survive out in the wilderness with those massive bear-maul wounds like that for so long? It says he had friendly native americans sew a bear-skin to his back over his open wounds, which he'd previously used maggots on to prevent himself from getting gangrene. And then he traveled hundreds of miles down the river on his own raft looking for Fitzgerald and Bridger. I guess they gave him a son to be murdered because they didnt think revenge for being left for dead was good enough of a motive to drive a man to go through all that shit
>>62645021
already don't give a fuck about this movie as leo apparently put on his screaming "give me an oscar" face
ugh
>>62652903
>ywn be wrestled playfully, yet forcefully to the ground by hardy
why live bros?
>>62650342for you
so I take it this is the mother of his son?
>>62652769
That sounds extremely homoerotic.
>>62645021
This thing looks gorgeous.
>>62651285
>2 hours 31 minutes
>>62649764
not sure it counts a thriller. looks to be more of just a straight up adventure
>>62651285
>it's 2 hours 31 minutes long
I already know im going to miss some of it during a piss break. I wish movies still had intermissions
>>62651508
have a real bear attack a dummy on a green screen set. composite the shot later.
>>62647492
I wouldn't be suprised if Tom Hardy won best supporting character.
>>62649439
considering he's playing Hugh Glass, a lot.
>>62656840
God no, that would look 100x worse than the CGI bear they've already got. You cant just superimpose a bear from a greenscreen room on to a natural landscape set and expect them to match up. Also theres the whole "natural lighting" thing. No thanks, George.
Also the bear would still be dangerous, both in the studio or out in the wilderness where they were filming. Especially if they were trying to make it "act" agitated and aggressive
I can't wait for it
>>62656536
every movie is that long nowadays, at least 2 hours
>>62649163
Leo will win eventually, and when he does he most assuredly will not deserve to win.
I can see this being the role they give it to him for. More likely he gets keked by Fassbender
high fov: the movie?
This reminds me of that one movie where Pierce Brosman played a confederate officer who burned liam neeson's house down and then Neeson hunted him in the snow or desert or some shit. Then satan showed up and gave Neeson a horse. Man that movie was weird.
>>62650505
>implying natural lighting is bad
>>62659874
>implying high FOV is bad
plebs, please.
So when are these beaner directors gonna focus on a movie about building the wall?

Leo's greatest talent is picking good projects.
He's a very mediocre actor though.
But then again, Tarantula got an Oscar for fucking Django so who the fuck knows.
this looks fucking sweet to be honest
my most anticipated movie since I saw this viral ad for prometheus:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWmbqH_z7jM
>>62656177
>>62661539
n-no homo guys... just wrestling until submission
looks like a shitty video game
pass.
>>62652054
>a global search for snow
Is it that hard to find?
>>62661772
what game? Assassins creed 3?
>mfw Glass was mauled 15 minutes from where I grew up
>>62647492
>will leo finally get his oscar for this one?
No, he will get it for his Rasputin film.
I went to the movies twice in the past 6 months and I saw this trailer both times
>muh son
The New World > The RevenantI dont hate The Revenant, I just hate nerds that make it some sort of fandom the same way they do about star wars hpying this movie
>>62645021
>that bear attack
>that panting
i feel like they ripped off the hitman video game trailer
>movie takes place in the old west
>character has an Injun spiritual vision
really?
>>62664151
it's all shilling. Inaritu doesn't even have much of a fanbase. posters in these threads literally act like they've already seen the film and it was a masterpiece, its pure shill.
the tone of the trailer kind of makes me think of Apocalypto, only with white settlers around and further up north
>>62664203
except Apocalypto had a believable lead actor rather than muh shouting and frothing acting man
>>62654382
This annoys this shit out of me.
>have amazing story of survival
>dude family lmao
why?
>>62664248
he did have a native american wife from several years where he was forced to live with the Pawnee indians. Nobody said he had children though
>>62650301
he's an actor and not a movie star like Leo
>>62649764
there was actually already a movie on this exact story:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_in_the_Wilderness
>>62650581
undergrated toast
>>62647492
Why do people think he deserves an oscar? He has never done anything remotely oscar worthy.
>>62665204
he's been nominated 4 times
>>62665237
yes...but his acting is far from good. Shouting really loud and frothing isnt acting
how the heckeridoo do you survive a bear attack
Looks like shit.
Exactly something the infantilized "adults" crave for though.
>>62665279
>Shouting really loud and frothing isnt acting
Worked for Al Pacino
cant wait for the screener
>>62650427
>>62650482
>>62650969
In the book they just take his shit and run off after signs of Indians show up
>>62665991
Hugh Glass is a real person and did survive a bear attack. This is a fictitious telling of his story, but it happened
>>62666123
>dvd screener of this film
>with that missing frame every so often
rather pay the money to go watch it 2bh
>>62666087
Pacino and Deniro are shit actors though.
>>62666087
only when he went complete shit after Scarface.
GOAT Pacino is 70s Pacino
>>62650427
>>62650482
>>62650969
he means "right" as in Christian and proper. Hardy is lying, saying that leo died from his bear wounds, so they buried him. In fact they threw him in a ditch and left him for dead.
I am pumped for any movie that shows a character surviving in the wilderness and actually knowing what he's doing.
My school forced me to read Lord of the Flies is a kid, and since I was a boy scout at the time I was raging over how dumb all the kids were. So survival stories where the character actually know his shit is a very satisfactory validation for me.
I hope to god in 2017 we'll get an all female equivalent. They're the tougher sex.
You understaynd?
>>62666386
>>62666786
So I guess in the movie there are 3 people left behind to take care of Glass after he was mauled: his son, Tom Hardy's character (John Fitzgerald), and another trapper? And Domhall Gleeson's character is their boss of the whole hunting party?
Is the native-american son in the book?
>>62649879
