During their fight in episode V Luke hits vader on the shoulder and it does nothing but spark a bit and made him flinch.
Da fuck? Why didnt all those niggas just coat their gear in whatever that type of plastic vaders shoudler guard is made of
>>62632650
Did you miss the part where Vader blocked a blaster bolt with his hand?
Force powers anon.
That armor can only be formed by melting down a Hayden Christensen
It's made or pure terrible acting
>>62632650
Luke is bitch-made and pulled back as soon as the saber made contact
Before the prequels lightsabers weren't all-powerful.
>that armour is too strong for blasters
maybe vader is the only humaoid strong enough towear the weight of blaster-proof armour?
>>62632709
this, luke was panicked and didn't follow through so it was just a glancing hit. It still hurt Vader enough that he yelled in pain.
>>62632836
not this since we saw luke use it to very easily cut though the hull of an AT AT
>>62632845
that pic...
>you'll never whimsically play with legos again
>youll never have star wars lego adventures
>youll never make up a scenario where the entire galaxy unites to defeat the foreign invaders (FUCK YOU YUUZHAN VONG I DID IT FIRST AND EVIL SENTIENT ROBOTS WERE WAY BETTER)
>>62632694
he's a good actor tho
no one ever would have been able to salvage the prequel writing and directing
>>62633517
He's a shit actor who did a shit job of acting a poorly written role
There's a reason he's never done anything of note since.
what is perspective. it clips the armor but the full force of the strike is blocked by vaders saber.
Lightsabers don't just magically go through everything. They need either time or a significant amount of momentum in their strike to do damage to metal. You remember in the beginning of Episode I when Qui-Gon tried to get through that blast door by cutting it open? He had to insert the blade and slowly try to melt it away. If lightsabers could instantly go through anything he could have just quickly carved a circle into the door and kicked in a new opening.
>>62633618
he's a mediocre actor, not a shit actor.
>>62633517
He's shit. He acts exactly the same way in Shattered Glass. Unbearable
>>62632650
You're mind is getting spoiled by the prequels.
In the prequels, the Jedi and light sabers get a massive power up to pander to the fans. It's very silly.
In the OT, light sabers are mostly just as strong as a regular sword.
OT:
>light sabers bounce off metal and surfaces
PT:
>Light sabers cut through anything if given enough time because that's cool or something
>>62634521
>carve circle into the door
>door is made of heavy metal so the circle he cuts weighs a ton and just stays in place when he kicks it
sounds like a Spaceballs scene
>>62634555
Basically
>PT
Wow look at these dank effects we can do now
>OT
Shit we can't really use these shiny swords because they look pretty tacky
>>62632650
Vader's taller than Luke.
His shoulder had the high ground.
>>62632670
Vader also has a mechanical hand...so you know, that helped that, too.
He also hits that railing that's really thin strip of metal and it doesn't even chip it
>Vader's pauldrons and chest armor appeared to be one piece that protected his entire upper torso.[5] The durasteel material[8] was gray in hue with several black vertical stripes. Around the neck of the full-shoulder pauldron was a black chain, and connected to the upper seam of the armor[5] was Vader's black, flowing,[11] nearly floor-length armorweave cape.[8] Coming from beneath the pauldron was a black tabard that was open in the front and reached down to the ground.[5] The shoulder armor itself weighed 12.2 kg overall, was resistant to both blasters and energy blades, and was capable of withstanding hits from both weapon types with only minor surface pitting. A drawback, however, is that its weight made it difficult for Vader to raise his lightsaber to full height, though he could still raise his hands above his head if pressed.
inb4 bunch of canonfags crying
>>62636061
>the shoulder armor weight made it difficult
how? he has fucking robot arms... what am i even reading.

he has a metal hand you fucking idiot
>>62634555
>In the OT, light sabers are mostly just as strong as a regular sword.
Except for when Obi-Wan is literally disintegrated by one and Luke uses one to slice through the hull of an AT-AT.
>>62636093
>The armor encased Vader completely, leaving no burnt skin exposed. However, the suit was not made with the peak technology of its day and was uncomfortable to wear. Vader slowly learned to live with the sort of isolation and anonymity that the suit imposed on him, finding ways to cope with his situation. Due to the heavy weight and rather awkward bulk of the armor, Vader was forced to change his lightsaber style to compensate for these shortcomings. The electronics of the suit were also very sensitive to electrical discharges, though Vader was able to add a limited amount of insulation to the suit after discovering this. Additionally, to escape the armor's claustrophobic nature, Vader had several pressurized meditation chambers built in which he could remove his mask and suit and still survive. Vader longed to be less dependent on his armor, and tried at times to function without it, but he labored in vain.
Sheev gave him spaghetti arms
>>62636182
Yup, and that very scene in OPs post where Luke and Vader lock blades and cut right through a metal rail.
People are really going for the Prequel Trilogy's throat these days, even going as far as nitpicking the lightsabers. I'm sure Disney is just loving all that hate.
>>62632650
>Why does the personal enforcer of the Emperor have access to the best armour in the Galaxy?
>>62636164
jedi have blocked blasters and even goddamn lightsabers with the force

>>62634545
It's really this. Some actors can transcend their script and their direction. Hell, Patrick Stewart made a career out of it. Ewan McGregor can do it too.
Hayden isn't the worst actor who ever lived, but he didn't have the experience or skills to compensate. To be fair, Portman was equally terrible and now she's an Oscar winner, so there's that.
>>62636320
>canon
>meaning anything outside of biblical discussions
Unless you're suggesting that Star Wars is real and that George Lucas is a modern prophet, discussing Star Wars "canon" is ridiculous. It's all made up.
>>62636358
weak
>>62636296
It's called Tutaminis and it's a legit canon force ability. Only the most proficient masters can block Lightsabers though, and only for a short time.
>>62636398
Why are you on a board dedicated in large part to discussing fiction if you can't even accept a fundamental part of how people understand stories?
>>62636398

Aren't you late for the AS meeting?
>>62633466
