Hello Mr. Ratings Man.

What are your top 5 movies?

and what are your top 5 types of threads to judge peoples responses in?
>>
>>62634519
Not Mr. Ratings Man here but what the fuck is the point of a thread where everyone just lists five and nobody responds to each other?

It's called discussion.
>>
if you can pick a top five of your favorite movies then you're not a fan of movies. FACT.
>>
>>62634566
If you can't pick a top five of your favourite movies, then you can't analyse movies correctly and they all just blend together for you, you pleb.

Blade Runner

Pan's Labyrinth

I made the first reply. I would have stated Star Wars and Groundhog Day but those are almost givens that don't even come to mind at this point.
>>

hello, friendo! well, since you ask, my top five movies would be

Highlander 2
Backdoor whores 5
Temple of doom
yourmothersuckingmycock.webm
attack of the Clones

And I enjoy judging those responses that dont actually add anything to a thread but whining. you know, that patronising, cunty sort of attitude someone has when they get all defensive about being told that the movies they like are actually shitty.

Wild Strawberries

Blade Runner is just one of those popular movies you never get around to watching.

Love 3-5, I wasn't really into Wild Strawberries; watched it right after Seventh Seal thinking Bergman was going to be my new favourite director but I didn't get anything out of it emotionally. What was it you liked?

do the 3x3 people not exist anymore? :(
>>
>>62636174
*around to watching for me.
>>
>>62636174
I guess it was just the simplicity of the film. While most of Bergman's films tend to be depressing and quite deep, this one tells a story that feels very human.

It's a pretty pleb reason to enjoy something, but it just felt really nice.
>>
>>62636200
I felt it was something I'd appreciate more as I got older
>>
>>62636174
You too pretentious for your own good anon
>>
>>62636174
>>The Devils
>Can you seriously blame me?
what does this even mean?
The Devils is one of the greatest historical dramas ever made
>>
>>62636187
3x3 are annoying to make since you have to find 9 images, resize them (otherwise they may look like shit), and anyway people usually pick stills, so other anons are always asking "what's top middle please?"
>>
>>62636268
How am I? There's nothing interesting about circle jerking over the same hundred or so that the average audience loves. I come here to talk about films you can't talk to the average person about and discover something interesting I wouldn't have otherwise heard of.

>>62636282
Not doubting it's good but can you blame me for not having seen it. I'm bookmarking it now though.
>>
>>62636335
>I come here to talk about films you can't talk to the average person

/tv/ probably isn't the right place for that. Of all the subject boards this is the one least full of pretentiousness.
>>
>>62636366
Exactly, which is why I wrote this >>62635507
It's cliche to say but it really used to be a lot better here
>>
>>62636439
It really didn't. /tv/ has always been a complete shithole, best evidenced by the fact that it is called /tv/.
>>
Someone post the Reddit copy pasta
>>
>>62636451
It wasn't perfect but we still had good relevant threads. I would barely need to navigate past the first page to find something interesting but now I've got a huge word filter and infinite scroll turned on but it's still nearly all trash.
>>
>>62634566
While I don't fall for the films/movies meme I do think there is inherent value in two seperate lists, one for films that effect you so strongly they change the way you see the world (or at least extremely intelligent pieces of cinema) and films that you love to such a degree for silly reasons you see then as masterpieces of entertainment.

Art:
1. Night of the Hunter (Laughton, 1955)
2. Winter Light (Bergman, 1963)
3. Rashomon (Kurosawa, 1950)
4. Ivan's Childhood (Tarkovsky, 1962)
5. End of Evangelion (Anno, 1997)
