I preferred TD when they aired, but re-watching them after - True Detective aged liked shit, because you're not as impressed with acting the second time and that's when chunkiness of dialogue REALLY shows. People shit on s2, but s1 was no better written, Mcconaughey was just able to sell it.

It's amazing that out of all the FNL people he easily has the best career while being by far the ugliest one. In 3 years since FNL he's been in Breaking Bad, The Master, Olive Kitteridge, Black Mass, Fargo and almost got a major role in Star Wars(i think he's in the running for one of the spin-offs now). It's especially hilarious seeing him succeed while pretty boy Kitsch fails again and again. I guess Hollywood really needs character actors.

I mean, during Golden Age HBO, 60 min episodes were perfectly fine with me, Sopranos, Wire and 6FU always ended too soon for me.
But yeah TD isn't interesting enough to be 60 min long, many scenes felt like filler, like they were trying to stretch it to 60. Also that fucking S2 finale was 90 fucking minutes, felt like twice that.
