Also all their movies have hardly any behind the scenes content longer than 20 minutes. While DC on the other hand, or Zack Snyder does like 3 hour featurettes of behind the scenes.

There was a ton of scenes in the first trailer that never made it in, there is a shot of Mantis or whatever her name is praying. She is going to be in GotG2 so it was a lead in thing.
He was so disgusted after the huge fight with marvel over the cabin scene (they didn't want it in) and the pool of visions scene with Thor (he didnt want it in) that he just never put together the extended cut like he said he was going to. He just walked away from everything.

I've seen Goodfellas three times now (admittedly it's been a while since my last viewing and don't remember much) and still I've failed to see why it's supposed to be so great.
I mean it does tell the story of a gangster in an engaging way to the point that it has been emulated in nearly every other gangster-type film. However, what else does Goodfella offer other than an entertaining story and a famous long take (I'm sure there are other iconic scenes, but I can't remember any)? The film seems to be lacking visually, there is no space for you to think where you have to absorb the scenario to get a deeper understanding of the situation or something to that extent, it's all very straightforward.
I have next to zero knowledge in film theory, so please help me understand why Goodfellas is considered to be one of the greatest films.
