Anyone here ever been to Paraguay? I know nothing about this place and am intrigued solely because of that. You never fucking hear anything about it, and it's smack in the middle of South America. Gotta be some weird shit going on there that's worth checking out.

I went there with my dad.
We camped in the Gran Chaco among cows and horses.
One of the best moment of my life.
Also the food is delicious as fuck, they have one of the best meat quality in the world.
Is this not the country where the Government forcibly racemixed every one of its citizens?

That is some tinfoil-hat-level insanity.
What did happen is that a series of disastrous wars in the 19th century reduced the never large European-immigrant population to tiny numbers; in the following century there was a lot of intermarriage. As a result of both that and the old Jesuit influence, the local indigenous language has survived to become near-universal, even though pure blood GuaranĂ are near extinct.

Yes, I did.
There's not much to keep you entertained for very long, so I'd combine it with a trip to other countries as well.
Paraguay is a very interesting country though. Read up on its history and you'll appreciate the grafiti and murals you'll see.
I remember Bourdain did an episode on the country, check it! No reservations or the newer series.

There's a bit of truth to it. Francia wouldn't allow white couples to wed. It was as much to do with marriage as race though.
