Thanks for posting. I'm quite set on going through Paris though; I haven't been there other than a short trip to Disneyland.

At the moment I'm thinking

Bordeaux > Paris > Bruges > Cologne > Munich > Nuremberg > Dresden > Berlin

But it's all very preliminary.

Bordeaux -> maybe brest -> paris -> amsterdam or utrecht -> hamburg -> fly to wien (shouldnt be expensive) -> prag -> dresden -> berlin
