France to Spain

Looking to journey from France to Spain, making these stops, plus Seville, and possibly to Lisbon, Portugal.

Poor American, looking for cheapest possible way. This trip is a few years off, but I want to know the pros and cons. Whether public transportation is cheaper than renting a car?

Looks like an excellent route.
I'm sure it'd be a lot more expensive to rent a car just because of gas prices in Europe.
Check out Megabus fares and try to book in advance. Book trains in advance too if you take trains.

Flixbus
they have a great price and cover all of France, practically most of Europe
but only Barcelona & Madrid for Spain.
check it out.

Could you or anybody recommend if there are any old (middle aged) castles or towns along the route? It would be fantastic to visit some

Why would you go to Murcia?

Is there a better coastal stop along the southern coast you can suggest?

I don't know if you are already staying in Granada, but if you don't I ensure you it is way more beautiful, with plenty of things to see.

Some tips:
- It is not that easy going to Barcelona from Toulouse by train, as you have to go to Narbonne and buy the train ticket the most advanced as possible (sign: someone who had to leave Toulouse one day earlier because all Barcelona trains were full in the day I wanted).
- Unless you going to Zaragoza, I don't understand why will you do Barcelona-Madrid-Valencia instead of Barcelona-Valencia-Madrid
>>
Nice route, at least on the Spanish side, but I'd swap Córdoba with Sevilla. It is a slightly better city.

Sevilla would be the next stop after Córdoba. My interest in Córdoba is mainly to see the mosque.

Would taking a bus from Toulouse to Barcelona make more sense? I would be stopping in Andorra for a day.
-your advice on Barcelona-Valencia-Madrid is good. I can definitely rearrange.

you should definitely hitch hike.

Define hitch hiking. Is that something normal in the EU?
