You shouldn't be charged extra over receiving domestic texting. He may be charged extra, depending on details of his wireless service plan. Who are your providers?

If cellphone works best for you, I suggest using Telegram. It's literally just texting but you can do it cross country - my bf and I do it all the time. Plus, messages are encrypted, if you're a creeper or anything lol
