This is like a variation of the county map thread but way easier to do

Not really sure what's up with mine. It doesn't include MANY of the places I've visited. For example, I lived in Delhi and it doesn't show very many checkins, even though I had data and frequently used Google products. Literally no history for cities like Srinagar, Belgrade, Kolkata, Bangkok, et cetera.

It also doesn't show any of the road trip I just took. Does this only work if you're using an Android device?
>>1118981
I think your device needs to be signed in to your Google account, have location tracking turned on (the default), and probably needs location/GPS enabled as well? My wife has always had an iPhone and her history is there.
Mine is missing a handful of places too, so I'm not sure what any other requirements may be
>>1118972
Having trouble doing this. It keeps just showing today. I don't see a gt location history option. I saw something that listed places, but not this map view
Mine shows just a blank map.
This was not as much fun as OP had promised.

Same here. These international surveillance moguls could at least be gents and share what they know about us, with us.

How do I do this on google maps on my phone?
It has missed out a lot of places but this is what I got.
>>1118977
Coolest map so far
Though in my ignorant burger view, aren't those all places you would be kidnapped/murdered/ISIS'd?
Mine is missing a lot of data for some reason, even though I use Google Maps every time I travel.

I don't know how far you got in trying, so here is as far as I can go.
Run a web browser.
Connect to google maps www.google.com/maps
Open up the google maps menu, and select "Your timeline". You may have to log in to google at this point.
I get a panel on the lower left reading "Location History is Off", and a button saying "Enable Location History".
I'm guessing that this does something if you are running on a device that has a GPS. (I'm not.)
Foursquare checkins

v nice
is 4square good for anything other than knowing where you've been? do you feel like you've gotten any value out of that?
i'm really enamored with the whole field of lifelogging
>>1119462
It's cool to see everything on a map. I also think the Foursquare recommendations are pretty good when traveling to a new place. It will tell me what bars/restaurants I might like based on my history. The user reviews are also generally better than yelp or any other place that I've seen.

Spot the dota guy.
>>1119449
Thank you. I kept trying to us the app. And it wouldn't do the dots
>>1119447
Here too. I'm really wondering what the criteria is for showing up on this map. I'm seeing dots from places I went to 3 years ago, and missing dots from the last year from places I definitely used my phone to check local maps.

>feeding Google your data voluntarily
>>1119532
If you have an Android phone, they have your location data anyway. And a lot more than that too.
>was having a roadtrip of a lifetime
>went back to HK coz no job in the US
>>1119713
That's a pretty sweet trip through the Western US. Did you do that all in one go?
>>1119704
Hell, Facebook literally listens to your conversations, not just through the phone, but hot mics and eavesdrops on you in general, then feeds you targeted ads
>>1119721
yup, in one go, 1.5 month and i fucking missing the good days
>>1119713
That's awesome, I'm jelly and I live in the US.

It was kinda like a grad trip in a poor way, me and my gf only stayed at motels for a week.
Rest of the days are mostly sleeping in cars, staying at a city/np for one or two days.
It sure sounds tough but it truly isn't, everyone have time can do it.
