Me again. Yes, did 6 laps of the ring. It's the Nurburgring Nordschleiffe in the town of Nurburg (with an Umlaut but whatevs). Not to be confused with Nurnburg, Nuremburg, or all the other shit people confuse it with. Got a jacket from the gift shop and had people back home in MRKA ask me why I have a jacket from "those Nazi trials." Also hit up the Audi/BMW factories, drove ~1000ish miles on the Autobahn and did Oktoberfest. All crammed into about a week (way too little time seriously).

Pretty fuckin cool mate, my company is based out of Chennai and have been itching to go there and rent a Royal Enfield on which I'd probably die riding in crazy Indian traffic

I went on the factory tour so I didn't really get to test drive one, km sure I could but I'd have to go along way out of Chennai to really stretch the bikes legs.

I always dreamed of taking my first car a 1987 VW scirocco 16v around the ring but Rocco died an awful death unfortunately

>>
>>1095912
'Ring guy here. No pics but Salisbury Cathedral was my fave part of visiting England, such a cool and historic place. There's a lot more to it than just the place the Magna Carta is. Stonehenge was cool, worth visiting, but I probably wouldn't go again

>>1095838
I can't tell you how much I wished I could've driven my S4 on the autobahn. Got stuck with an awful rental, couldn't squeeze more than 110mph out of it. The Clio Cup at the Ring was frickin awesome though, especially in the wet. Was passing almost everyone but the Audis and 911 GT3s consistently.

>>

No, just took a tour bus that picked people up from a few different hotels, went straight to Stonehenge, and then dropped us off at Earl's Court
>>
>>1095983
What I lied best at Salisbury is how they added a steeple tower over the transept, which had not been designed to bear that weight. They beefed it u, but if you look, you can see the columns at the four corners bowing outward under the load. If you happen to be there when there is going to be an organ recital, sit in on that, it's great organ and great acoustics,

Riding in India isn't actually that hard. If you can be attentive to the street and know how to ride a motorcycle, you'll be fine. I actually learned how to drive a bike there and spent the better part of two months going back in forth between Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad on traffic-heavy highways. Nothing better than face

Not him, but I went on the bar crawl and ended up making out with a 9/10 Finn girl. Pretty based.

Nice.

When I got to Gorak Shep all the lodges were completely full so I had to get to EBC, quickly scramble up Kalapatar, and then hoof it all the way back to Pheriche in one day.

I was dead tired, but would definitely do it again.

Dude. Dude.

I'm also not a scenery guy, but holy shit. Imagine the biggest, most fucking mind-boggling mountain you've ever seen... and it's dwarfed by an even bigger mountain behind it... and you're already at 14,000ft and these things still tower over you like nothing your mind can conceive of... and then you realize most of the mountains blowing your mind aren't even famous, maybe not even named.

It makes you see nature and geology from a totally new perspective.

Annapurna circuit trek, near Gyaru. You can skip the shitty parts of the circuit and get a jeep from Besishahar to Chame, the government made a real shit-stain of a road out of the ancient trail so it's horrible to walk on now; unpaved, white from the chalky dust in the rocks, the wind blows massive clouds of it in your face and eyes, no sun protection from trees anymore, awful.

Just go to where the road ends in Chame and start trekking from there. When you're given the option of going up to Gyaru or staying down near the river, it's worth the hike to get up to Gyaru. It's 3-4 hours of pure uphill climb, but you're alone up there with the Himalayan Griffons. When I was there, those giant dinosaur birds were attacking a cow and a villager couldn't scare them away with pots and pans. It's like Jurassic Park up there.
>>

HOW TO TASTE BEER:

1: Put beer in mouth.
2: Be awake.
3: ?????
4: PROFIT!
>>
>>1097946
They had everybody take a sip and then told us to focus on different parts of your tongue and taste different flavours of the beer
Bitterness on the sides, a bit of sweetness, hoppy flavour at the back etc
It was cool
>>
>>1097955
Sounds like bullshit to me. Like those Sommeliers who say they can taste 100 different things in a glass of wine.
>>
>>1097946
>>1097967

It's really not. I went on one and you have to hold your hand over the glass, swirl it around and then smell it. Then you taste it normally. Then you taste it by swilling it around your mouth and then you taste it for the third time by slurping it to allow more air in.

It's surprising what a difference it makes. I didn't expect to see such narrow mindedness on a travel board.
>>
>>1097968
You might think it makes a difference, but I still don't trust that it does.

It's very easy to fool someone into thinking doing this or that little ritual makes things different. It's basically why people still think horoscopes and crystals and hypnotism and tarot cards, etc are anything other than wastes of time. You can trick yourself into feeling all sorts of sensations, but that doesn't mean they aren't just brain tricks.

Have you ever seen people taste wine from black cups? Almost all of them can't even tell if it's red or white wine. Read this for more about how these "tasting techniques" are bullshit. http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2013/jun/23/wine-tasting-junk-science-analysis

It's like if you watch a video of someone with lice, you'll start to feel your head itch. It's just brain tricks based on the power of suggestion.

We're not narrow minded because we're skeptical. If anyone's narrow minded it's you for believing what you were told without questioning it.
