7hrs in Heathrow is like 3hrs in other airports. It's really the home of be there 2hrs before checkin, plus or minus 2 more hours. It's a messed up airport. I might even consider not leaving. Shop the airport, all the flagship stores are there, and maybe pay a daily rate for an airline club and drink and freshen up for free. Might spot some fun celebrities.

I've spent more than 3hrs changing planes in Heathrow on multiple occasions, and that's without exiting and going through security a second time.
The Underground can take you up to an hour each way into London, though there are express trains, if you time it right. I suggest the express train. But, I would caution anyone leaving the airport under 8 hours between flights. If you can afford to change your flight now, to allow more time (or even miss it), it certainly worth having some time in London.
