I'm planning a trip to the US next year. Specifically, to NY, DC, and the Fort Knox area.
I'll be staying for about three weeks, and as much as I'd like to stay in a hotel for the duration, I've been told that can get quite expensive. I'll be traveling with a friend who doesn't mind sharing a room, and I'd prefer to avoid hostels if possible.
What are some good options for lower cost accomodation?

Sorry if I lived in one of those places I would help. If that's your Phantom and you are Japanese you could try for a military discount. Just have an ID and say you're a "NATO soldier" and most people will be too dumb to know the difference. Just don't do this around actual vets.

That sounds like the itinerary for someone planning the master heist of the century. Just kidding, but Fort Knox, Kentucky seems awfully random.
For low cost Airbnb has become a really popular option in recent years. I've never used it though, but I've read positive things by some people on this board.
