Hi /trv/, I am in Europe for 3 months and I want to visit as many natural wonders as possible anywhere in Europe (preferably more western Europe).
What are great spots for walks, hikes, and just spectacular views?
The French/Swiss/Austrian alps have some pretty beautiful scenery, but I've not been there since I was a child so I can't really recommend any places in particular. If you're there right now it's ski season, so things like hiking aren't so easy. Also, it's worth bearing in mind that these places are expensive - they're the holiday destination of choice for rich Western Europeans.
If you are able to go a bit further east, I'd definitely recommend Bled and Bohinj in Slovenia, and Plitvice and Krka in Croatia.

Corsica is pretty great. High mountains from which you can see up to the see on the top, high altitude lakes, cristal clear water with pink cliffs...
The Alps of course, but the Pyrenees must not be understimated either
That's mostly mountains tho I could list some great canyons in France too.

And I mentionned canyons in France, the Verdon and the Tarn one are great.
I didn't say anything about other countries because I've been in a lot of other Euro countries but usually not in natural places, so I couldn't say.

do you think it is a good idea to stay in places that are a bit warmer, or is the cold bearable in the east? I also really want to see the northern lights. Anyone ever been?

Weird question no offense, I mean I don't know know do you prefer heat or cold ? Either way you can always wear a hat or a jacket depending which you chose

I went to the arctic circle a few years back and saw the northern lights, probably the absolute best natural wonder I've ever seen.
Nothing else even comes close. The only issue is that they don't show up every night, it might be cloudy, and nothing up that far is cheap.
I started and ended my Euro trip in Bergen because I new someone there. So I was lucky enough to take this ride twice, it's absolutely stunning. The first time it was way nicer, had more snow and was sunny. These pictures are from late July, it happened to be all cloudily and rained a bit but was still awesome.
I captured two of the best things in the world in a trip to south western France: cheese and bread
