Shit, that's been a long time.

This: >>1071995. Aside from hot and cold warzones (I'd stay well clear of most of Western and Central Africa), you're going to be fine. Botswana is a personal favourite of mine.
>>

Ghana, one of the safer countries. Stay away from the Accra beaches at night though.
>>
I'm a saffa and would recommend SA

Namibia is safe but aside from sand dunes and the okavango not much is going on there.

I've been to Swaziland and would highly recommend it - Royal Swazi Spa is an awesome hotel with a great golf course and it's close to the local markets where the shop owners will do anything to get your business.

Piggs peak is pretty boring tbd but I went with my uncle who wanted to gamble and the casino is pretty bad - if you go that side to hike you would probably have a good time.

Go to somalia, lots of culture there.
>>
Only the places where whites are the majority. Most of them got genocided so you're limited to a handful of villages in southern Africa.
>>

South Africa is great, lots of good safaris. Cape Town is one of my favorite places in the world- the wine regions, like Stellenbosch and Franshoek, are both beautiful.

I also spent a lot of time in Botswana, which is a nice place to see. Gabarone is a nice city, the culture is friendly and refreshing (it's customary to chat up whoever you're standing with for more than 3 seconds).

Feel free to ask me any follow up questions.

Why? Do the gay guys love white ass?
>>
How is the Gambia/Senegal in comparison to the rest of West Africa?

Also what about Cameroon?
>>
Why does everyone like Cape Town and no one like Johannesburg?

Why do you people even bother commenting?

I've been to 28 different African countries, and the vast majority of them are fine.
>>

How were your 5 star hotels, friendo? It's the most uncivilized, disease-ridden and war-torn continent. You go off the beaten track, you're dead.

>List of ongoing conflicts in Africa: Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Somalia, Uganda, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Western Sahara, Democratic Republic of Congo and Chad
>>
>>1073890
Half of those are perfectly fine to visit and you won't see any shades of conflict. You're really grasping at straws here. Bad troll.
>>
>>1073890
>assuming assumptions

Budget travel all the way. I know you've seen Blood Diamond, but life isn't actually always like in the movies. You go off the beaten track and you find unrivaled hospitality.

Talked to a Senegalese local recently, he was afraid in his own country as a law-abiding citizen and described nothing but horrible shit. You aren't safe if you want to have a decent life as a human being free from worry. Which safe country has curfews, m80?
>>
>>1073890
Okay, I'll bite. Just because a country has a conflict somewhere within its borders, does not mean the entire country is unsafe. Most of these countries, even Somalia, has safe parts it's possible to visit. Some, such as Morocco and Tunisia, I fail to see why you have them on there, as there's no conflict there that I can think of at all. Some others, such as the CAR, which currently has a genocide going on, or Burundi and South Sudan, with massive political unrest, you have plainly left out. Your list of conflicts is haphazard at best, you display a horrible lack of knowledge, and all in all I'd give your post a 1/10 simply because at least you managed to fill in the correct countries on your map. Now fuck off to /int/.

North Korea.

Bump for interest !

After Australia/New Zealand and Vietnam I want to backpacking in eastern africa.
Starting in Capetown and then
Mozambique/Tanzania/Kenya/Ethiopia. I'am a frugal traveller so I don't need a real hostel just a bed. I thought doing some woofing and why not working with an NGO.

Right now I get my WHV in Australia and I want to save money for Africa. How much do you think need for at leat 5/6mounth (or more I don't care, I don't wanna back at home now)

Cape Town. Built around a mountain. Beaches. Nice buildings as long a you stay away from the Flats.
Joburg. Started as a mining camp. Whores and saloons. Main big city. Puts on a crime face. Main hotel closed down because of street mutts. Getting somewhat better. Both cities transit are improving but still suck compared to northeast US cities.

Does Mozambique have anything to recommend it besides beaches?

Your friend is a little bitch.

I was in Dakar a couple of weeks ago, still have friends living there. It's fine. It's poor, obviously, and one does attracts attention, but it's not like fucking 80s South Central or a warzone or whatever. I'm a very obvious white guy, so are my friends, and even my female friends are not especially nervous about doing whatever in the streets.

I'm tired of these "Afropeans" sucking on western countries dicks, happy to have electricity 24/7 and shitting on their own country. They're just as responsible for the dire situation of their country as those who're still there, ffs.

Anyway, OP, many countries to visit, just don't go the obvious warzones or high tension areas : CAR, North Nigeria, Mali, Sudan...

If you can't speak French, don't go to any French speaking countries, coz English there is... spotty at best, you will have enough trouble navigating those countries, you don't need to be lost in translation on top of that.

Anyway, some recommended countries there are : Rwanda, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Senegal, Tanzania.

Just like you don't start traveling in Asia with Bangladesh, but rather with Thailand. Start off with an easy country, like Rwanda. Beautiful, relatively friendly people, good food, good music.

Remember people throughout the continent are still quite stuck in a colonial mindset, so don't be surprised if people call you bwana or boss. Kindly explain you don't like that too much.
There are a few racists going to rant on you if you're a foreigner (especially white), but that's really rare.

Prepare for corruption though, with some exception (like Rwanda).

Gurúè has some pretty amazing scenery, Ilha de Moz has nice colonial buildings and neighborhoods + food, aside from the beaches.

It's a great country, but the roads make travel harder than it's neighbors. And if you don't speak portuguese it'd be that much harder still.
