I collect currencies, yes. My girlfriend even bought me a folder to put them in, your girlfriend sounds pretty shitty desu
>>
Yup. I collect a sample of nice crisp bills in small denominations from countries I visit.

I've only cheated when it came to Nork bills and Zimbabwe monopoly money (purchased from ebay)

My list: Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Bermuda, Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Iceland, North Korea, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Euros

I don't do it on purpose but if I have some money left over I bring it home and keep it. The only money I ever purposely got was Cuban 3 peso notes with Che on them.

I have one bill from every place I've been in my wallet, in a zipper pocket. Ecuador was disappointing in that regard -- US bills being their official currency.

I also keep a Malaysian coin in there that has a kite on it, since it is the only money I've run across to date that has a kite in it; traveling to kite events being a big part of where I travel to.

I hope you've told your girlfriend that she's stupid.

I generally collect a lot of coins but mostly old stuff. Most currencies I have are defunct. My oldest coin is a German Empire 1/2 mark coin from 1916. None of the coins I have are worth more than maybe 3 dollars in the Collector's market though. It's just a very very small hobby.

Dump her senpai

Pretty silly, it's true. How old are you? And, why do you need souvenirs that aren't meaningful to you? Spend that money on something you can have forever, some prints you can frame later. Maybe something scrapebook worthy, like a pamphlet or theatre ticket that documented something you did that you might enjoy looking at later. An actual dollar bill? Nah. Not likely. Think about it. If you have little kids, they might find it interesting to handle foreign money they've never seen before...of a certain age, really. But why do you find it interesting? Ask yourself.

Things I shop for/save other than my photos...wall art, useful knicks, like something that is a container, purse, wallet, a great winter coat or local crafted shoes I'll enjoy for a few seasons, something handicraftish that locals do well, like a tablecloth for my dining room, embroidered linens, nice local hardwood cutting board. I might pick up a cookbook in a local language at a bookstore (always seek out a bookstore), or book from a famous longstanding restaurant with signature recipes, might get it signed. Chocolate. Hard candies.

I have Moroccan Dirhams, Czech Crowns, Hungarian Forints, Georgian Laris, Armenian Drams, Turkish Lira, Macedonian Dinars, Serbian Dinars, Ukrainian Gryvnia, Bulgarian Levs, British Pounds, Croatian Kunas, Albanian Leks.

Best though is a 5 euro Dutch coin. I think they gave it to me at some McDonald's

Your girlfriend is shit.
>>
>>1068623
Your girlfriend is boring.

I don't have much foreign money knocking about at all but I would like to start collecting it when I travel some more.

My list: British Pounds (being britbong), Scottish Pound note (never been to Scotland, I just found it), Euros, Turkish Lira, Egyptian Pounds.

Coin, yes. Bill, no. But this is mostly because I am quite frugal, and prefer to exchange when possible for my currency, when on the trip back home.

Have Malaysian Ringgits, Qatari riyals, UAE dirhams, Brazilian reals, dollars from AUS and Canada, some 5 fen Chinese RMB, some Indian rupees, and various pre-Euro coins.
>>
Unless you plaster the walls with them at your house, I can't see why your girlfriend cares what you collect. She sounds pretty controlling and/or dumb tbqh. "I don't like your hobby, you should stop". Why would she even care? Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the impression I get. Any hobby is stupid to someone who doesn't like it.

Anyway. It'd be wrong to say I "collect" currencies, but I always try to take some back home with me when I visit a country. I prefer notes over coins. I currently have Norwegian and Swedish krone (I'm Norwegian, so not too hard), Euro, British pounds, Russian and Belarusian ruble, Lithuanian litas (which was replaced by the euro last year, so this is a nice souvenir), Polish zloty, Ukrainian hryvnia, Romanian and Moldovan leu, Jordanian dinar, Israeli shekel, Lebanese lira, Qatari riyal, UAE dirham, Kenyan shilling and Thai baht. I have some USD lying around, but since I've never actually been to the US I don't count them. When I was in Moldova I also visited Transnistria, but food poisoning-induced stupidity caused me to exchange all my Transnistrian rubles into leu when I left. Which sucks, they'd be really cool to have.

British money is common, but it is so beautiful, easily the most attractive currency in coins at least. American bills have a stately classic look, I hope they never become like CAN or MXN Monopoly money.

My pre-Euro cash is my prized possession.

After handling yen on a daily basis tiny kid size dollars feel like monopoly monopoly money.

She sounds like a 'basic bitch', perhaps she would find money more interesting is it was stamped with Jennifer Aniston or Kim Kardashian's face.
