It's high time we had one of these threads.
>>1057121
This is a /pol/ thread just waiting to happen.
Countdown to Syrian immigrant pics......
>not including a bare template like a faggot
And yes, I agree.
Where I went
>Sweden
What I expected
>picture of beautiful blonde women
What I got
>picture of a bunch of arabs setting a flag on fire
Just don't people. We already "inb4'd" it.
Wish I was kidding. Athens is the only place I've been that really, truly let me down.
>>1057139
Lol. This is so true. It's the acropolis in the very center, then miles of concrete houses. Easily, one of the most boring cities in Greece. There's like 2-3 days at most of things to do.
template here
>>1057164
Go back to /v/, faggot.
>>1057121
>>1057263
shit... my bad
>>1057121
Lol seems like an interesting thread...
I need better friends.
>>1057275
Whoops, forgot something.
Pretty good. Could say the same for Prague, except for all the smoking in bars and restaurants.
>>1057264

>>1057280
When I went to Vienna the pic in the middle was pretty accurate to what I seen.
>>1057280
>>1057328
Yup, Vienna is a pretty clean town, even more so within the Ringstrasse.
>>1057280
>Pretty good. Could say the same for Prague, except for all the smoking in bars and restaurants.
Amazing to me how acceptable smoking is abroad, really. It's definitely class, not education. Prague was lovely in many neighborhoods, but it's got a seedy underbelly right in the open, building to building, street to street. In front of my $500 hotel room, park with needle junkies outside the front door, and winos with open bottles between it and the train station or it and the opera house. A good deal of crime is there, just not advertised, talk to any expat there for any length of time. You'll hear about the people trafficking and organized crime.
>>1057343
yeah, just got back from Portugal. I could smell cigarette smoke everywhere, except for the rural ass areas.
>>1058046
pics?
>>1057133
This is trying to hard to make Tokyo look bad
>>1057328
agreed, was not let down at all.
>>1057343
>. In front of my $500 hotel room, park with needle junkies outside the front door, and winos
Rather junkies and winos than amerifats in 500 dollar rooms, upset over a whiff of smoke outside tho. Go see a shrink
>>1057280
Bars whitout smoking suck.
Don't be a weenie.
If you want to live healthy stay away from bars anyway.
I'm sorry that I can't really contribute to the thread. I'm in my phone.
But to be honest I rarely have any expectations when I travel. I try to take things as they come.
>>1057280
Went there in summer.
Totally got what I expected. Beautiful.
>>1059202
It's always hilarious how shocked tourists are by the garbage mountains. Shouldve been here in the 90s... At one point garbage workers went on strike and there were garbage piles many times that stretching for blocks
>>1059212
> I rarely have any expectations when I travel.
I hear that. It gotten to the point for me where all the shitty aspects of where I go end up being more amusing attractions than the things everyone else would normally go to see.
>>1057133
This picture is more accurate for Seoul. Tokyo is pretty cool actually
>>1059152
The truth is the opposite. Thailand party scene is so boring and lame.
bored so i made a few
>>1060128
>>1058672
If by making it look bad you mean being honest. Tokyo is cool, but I think there is a common misconception that it has Vegas-tier neon and looks like a cyberpunk futuristic utopia. It does not look like Blade Runner. Tokyo is very much like the third picture and is largely low tech and gray and uninspired with boring architecture and tacky signs everywhere. There are tangled power cables hanging everywhere, the streets are narrow.
I love Tokyo, but it is thoroughly the third picture over the middle one. Fucking relax weeaboos.
>>1060153
not even weaboo
you are honestly retarded if you expected neon blade runner type shit
>>1060179
Fukin kek. 100% accurate. The number of times someone using those for the first time nearly hit me was ridiculous. Prague was good fun though.
>>1060149
I don't get it
>>1060192
Its small
>>1060179
The last picture for me would be a hoard of Chinese tourists bumping into everyone like the assholes that they are.
>>1060153
Not weaboo
If you actually thought Tokyo or even Las Vegas to be like the second pic than you're an idiot.
>>1057133
the Sweden thing would be for people who haven't actually been
In the centre of Stockholm is like walking through a town for well dressed tall models
Maybe I'm an idiot for expecting a 24/7 party atmosphere there but I was pleasantly surprised to find it anything but. Sure there were clubs and bars but it was so much more than that. Lovely place.
>>1060295
expensive?
>>1060297
Depends on what you'd class as expensive.
We went as a group of 4 and probably spent around £300 each including flights, hotel, rental car etc for a week. We never skimped out on anything worrying about money, we did all the water sports and what not.
>>1059151
In the EU there has been a ban on smoking inside of bars and restaurants for around ten years
it's enforced at least in the Nordic countries, but probably it's not taken as seriously in the poorer and more corrupt parts of Europe
Personally I like not getting cancer from second hand smoke
>>1059229
It's because the city doesn't have alleys, despite every movie about NYC inevitably having an alley scene. Living here I'm used to it but when I visit other cities I'm reminded how much of a dump New York is. Festering, leaky trash lining the streets in the humid summer sun is nasty.
>>1060299
I don't think there's an EU-wide smoking ban. You can smoke in bars in Belgium and some clubs in France have nasty smoking rooms.
>>1057164
traveling is shit if you set unrealistic expectations before you actually go
San Fran = total letdown.
My first experience in city limits was watching a homeless dude shit into a pizza box in the middle of the street.
Next day I took a walk and every park was packed full of them bathing in the fountains and covering every inch of public property. Place legit has a problem.
>>1059229
God I remember going to NYC in the 90s and it was a nightmare. Sadly, it actually has gotten better.
>>1060193
but why
>>1060157
>you are honestly retarded if you expected neon blade runner type shit
I wouldn't say that man. I really don't think someone is "retarded" for expecting Tokyo to be way more neon-y and futuristic than it is. That is a meme about Tokyo that is really played up. Blade Runner itself was indeed inspired in part by Kabuki-cho. Look at movies like Into the Void and Tokyo Drift. They all spam this meme. Add the robot meme into the mix and it's really not hard to see why people think this shit.
>>1060916
San Francisco is awful. You can see everything worth seeing there in half a day.
>>1060301
100% accurate
>>1060153
I feel you man. Whenever people talk to me about my travels to Japan they imagine crazy, sci-fi, neon nonesense. In reality Tokyo looks very much like the third pic.
>>1060916
lot of cool stuff in San francisco.
Really neat place if you know where to go.
Stay away from the tourist traps (Crissy Field, Fisherman's Warf, Coit Tower, etc.) they don't do the city justice and they keep you in stale areas of the city that don't represent it well. Yes there's a lot of homeless people in this city and just about anything is considered acceptable in public but San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the US and has a lot to offer. Check out the mission, Golden Gate park for sure. twin peaks/tank hill, Haight ashbury, and so on. And THE FOOD. best city for food ever.
>>1060916
Lmao that reminds me of Honolulu. They've got homeless everywhere. If you're ever in Hawaii don't come to Oahu, it's way overpopulated shithole and is dirty as fuck.
>>1060299
>Personally I like not getting cancer from second hand smoke
This, plus I like not getting migraines from second hand smoke too
>>1060170
Hongkonger here
Yeah why didn't you go to the tourist areas
>>1061229
>Paris is one of the whitest places I've been to
lel you haven't traveled much
>>1057139
Athens is a massive dump, but the ancient city was cool. Thessaloniki is nicer
>>1061229
>Paris is one of the whitest places I've been to
Maybe if you've spent your entire life in Nigeria
>>1061261
>(you)
>>1061371
>I've lived in, visited, and worked in more countries than you've seen "poland ball" cartoons about on /pol/
You're definitely a VIP member of /trv/.
>>1057139
you've obviously never been to egypt
>>1061517
Vietnam is pretty chill overall
Nice beaches too tho
>>1060148
This makes me happy. When I say I live in Miami people think I live in a third world warzone. Its actually pretty nice.
>>1060145
This is Magaluf too
>>1057140
>>1061367
All of greece was disappointing; the Peloponnese, the islands, Athens, the little I saw of Thessaloniki. Oh, Olympia was ok, but maybe my expectations were just really low by that time.
>>1061395
Well, crap yo, Egypt was awful. Doesn't mean Greece is great.
>>1061517
Those terraced hills are almost in China. I didn't go anyway near them. I liked Hue. But I would've used this for "what I got"
>>1058673
are you saying you were surprised that Malaysia is an islamic country, or that there happens to be a lot of arabian oil tycoons because the biggest landmark is literally an state owned oil office.
Either way you're an idiot.
