I have some us dollars leftover from other vacations but most of the websites I've been reading say that they are useless there. But I've heard that their black markets run on USD so it might be okay to tip with them?

I'm leaving for Cuba in 3 weeks.
My only concern is food. I'd like to save money but I know the island has two types of money:
the Peso for typical citizens &
the CUC (for American kekolds)
I don't have much money, this is the first vacation I've taken in 5 years. I'd like to think I could just order the same street food as locals and then pay for it but I don't know where I could get Pesos and I think they would notice my accent when I spoke SpAnIsH?

You can exchange USD in Cuba but there is a 10% comission for this imposed by the government, so exchanging euro, GBP or canadian dollars is a better deal.

You can't buy shit for the local currency. In restaurants people pay in CUCs and not their worthless paper. You can get garbage-tier street food for it but it will taste disgusting. Food is bad enough in Cuba...
