I'm going to vegas for the first time in two months. What should I expect?

A shithole of a city. If you have $, there's lots of fun to be had but the $ will disappear faster than you can blink
>>1047652
And if you're going on New Years, expect th casinos to be crowded shoulder to shoulder and the line to get a drink taking up to 45 min
If you like clubs, check out Omnia. If you like bomb food check out these food places, Taco Ey Taco, Raising Canes, and Bachi Burger. If you like hiking check out Red Rock. If you want to do something fun and random one night go to the pinball Hall of Fame.

As someone who worked in Vegas for a little over a year, I can't agree with you. Living there was the highlight of my adult life.

>Living there was the highlight of my adult life
I'm sorry to hear that.

I made more in a year then I have back home in 2 and a half. (And I work more now) There's SO much money and fun to be had there.

the further north you go, the more "old vegas" it gets (used-up meth whores, street performers, locals having a night out, $5 tables, titties everywhere, literally old shit like carpets that haven't been replaced since the 70's). Center of the strip is fancy expensive world-famous shit like Caesar's and Bellagio and Venetian. South strip is kitcshy theme resorts built around the 90's like Luxor, Excalibur, NYNY
Old Vegas is legit as fuck, stay in downtown if you want a more authentic experience with cheap gambling and no resort fees
play table games, you'll actually get to socialize. Read up on the games ahead of time so you know what you'd like to play. The classics like blackjack and craps are the best IMO but there's lots of obscure games like Pai Gao and Crazy 4
Poker is filled with sharks who will drain you faster than a gold-digging mail order bride, don't play if you haven't done it professionally
watching other people play table games is totally cool, but don't expect service
free drinks as long as you're gambling, the more you're spending the more attention you'll get
if you're on limited time, start at the top or bottom of the strip and work your way down/up then take the monorail back to your hotel at the end of the day
Anyone have hotel recommendations?
Was thinking Bellagio but not sure if it's worth the money. Also thinking Planet Hollywood or Luxor?

Not OP, but I'm thinking about going in mid-February. What are some good hotels to stay at downtown that are still cheap? I was looking at El Cortez and Fremont Hotel specifically.
>>1047778
Bellagio will cost you a fortune. Luxor is not as flash but is still cool and way cheaper...The rooms are nice, heaps of gaming tables and LAX nightclub is in the casino.
>>1047778
Bellagio is flash but expensive by strip standards and the clientele is mainly either Asian or old.
PH is fun, nice rooms, usually a pretty active casino. BurGR is great casual food.
I wouldn't recommend Luxor at all. The rooms are very run down, resort is full of trailer trash and there's not much to do.
If you're on a budget I'd recommend NYNY. Small but clean and comfortable rooms, casino is hopping and there's good bars and food. Gallagher's steakhouse in there is WAY underrated, great steaks.
If money is no object go with the Cosmo, Venetian or Encore. If you're younger the Cosmo is amazing.

>El Cortez
kek, it's like sleeping in somebodys basement. I used to play craps there in the middle of the night for the "atmosphere". One time the asian lady dealer told me "You a big wiener."
>>1047778
bellagio is tired. wynn and encore pis all over it.
no point going vegas if your staying in some dive like luxor or ph, although ph is a decent visit at night. if your doing do it properly.

no it wont hotels are dirt cheap in vegas. even top strip ones, they lose on room rates just to get u ion the property
>>1048438
cosmo is good but not tp tier like palazzo/ven/wynn/enc

Google LV Stratosphere phone number
Call the Stratosphere hotel.
Demand to speak to Mr. House, tell the receptionist you are The Courier.

>dirt cheap
The Bellagio's typical room rate on a weekend is $150+, then you add on the $35 per night resort fee, you're taking close to $350 for two nights. I don't know how fat your wallet is but that ain't "dirt cheap" pal.

for the quality of hotel you are getting, vegas room rates at the decent hotels on the strip are dirt cheap.
transport the hotel anywhere else in the world and you will pay far more for the room rate in such a quality of hotel.
(still bellagio rooms are tired and bit its a bit tatty in places imo)
