Going interrailing soon and want to know if you guys think it is safe in Turkey at the moment with all the shit going on.

TL;DR if I go to Turkey, will I die?

It's safe, but stay away from crowded beaches.

Several European countries recommend NOT going there unless it's for some urgent matter.

Right now Kurds are pretty pissed, and it's also where Western ISIS recruits transit through. Pretty much not the right moment to go.
>>

Who the fuck gives a shit what any country thinks? It's all politics anyway. And I'm curious which countries would actually recommend "not going".
>>1109269
What?
>>1109267
Turkey is 100% safe. I didn't know it was a big interrailing country though, as most people use busses or fly from city to city. Are you planning to do the route to Tatvan/Van? If so, I can only recommend the Van...

The usual, from airbnb to halfprice to tripadvisor. Just decide if you are going to drive around (you should), and then pick your neighborhood based on what is convenient for the drive or not drive plan.

OP, as far as Mia Bch is concerned, lincoln road is your central spot really. Use the "New Times" on all the restaurant and store newstands to know what is going on where on any night. Use yelp or eater...

Is there a place I can safely stow some light luggage in New York near central park for a few hours?

Staying with a friend but I'm on my own til she gets off work at 5. I don't mind paying some money.

back in the day there used to be lockers in grand central.
this no longer exists because terrorists win and nyc is a police state.
the only places that do this that i know of are outside the baseball stadiums (not near central park) and only right before and during games.

i dunno
google "goddam locker near central fucking park" and you might have something

So are you in the Marines or the Navy? Just curious. A better question would probably be what are you in to? Where are you from? Can better give suggestions that mirror your interests
>>
>>1109089
In the Marines, from California, I like hiking, going to the beach and sight seeing, wouldn't mind jazz clubs or live concerts
>>
>>1109090
Marine here as well. Well you can get some hiking, but be forewarned, it won't be the hills you are used to in California. There are some good trails on base, and plenty through the Croatian National Forest, including the 20 mile Neusiok Trail. I will post more when I transition from a mobile device.

Have any of you /trv/ellers done the Big Balkan Roadtrip? I'm planning to do it this year and I wanted to know your opinion.

- How was it? Did you like it?
- What about the trip was the best, and the worst? Did any kind of inconveniences happen along the trip?
- Which advice would you give about things to harness the most during the trip? What about things to avoid doing?
- Are the Balkans affordable? How much did you end up spending overall?
- What are good souvenirs to purchase? Did you end up spending money on other stuff you needed along the trip?

I'm from the Balkans. I can't answer your questions right now as I am not home but I'll get to you when I can.

This time last year I took a trip starting in Central Europe and travelling through the Balkans as far as Montenegro. It wasn't a road trip as such because I didn't have a car, but I did travel by bus so maybe there are some similar aspects. It'll be easier for me to answer specific questions based on that, but I'll try to give some answers to the general questions you listed.

My favourite places were Plitvice Lakes in Croatia and Lake Bled and the Vintgar Gorge in Slovenia. Both really beautiful, if a little bit touristy. I regret not going a bit...

I'm from Newcastle, so feel free to ask away. The nightlife is very good, and there are lots of great pubs. The area of the river is really pretty, with some nice bridges and some of the architecture in the centre is nice, especially on Grey Street. If it's your thing, there's an art gallery called The Baltic which has a lot of modern stuff (sometimes it's good, sometimes it's shit, but it's worth a visit). What else do you like, or what else would you like to know?

Hey everybody, I have a question for you all and for everyone who likes traveling. I'm an Italian student and this summer I'm going in the USA for a month to study English and have some fun.
So far I can decide if going to LA or to Santa Barbara. I'm more likely to choose LA but I'd like to hear some opinions. Also I'm 19.

Calling all Ukrainians:
Is it safe to travel to the western parts of Ukraine? Kiev, Lvov, Odessa etc?
I'm a British Citizen with a British passport, but I was born in Ukraine. I don't have a Ukrainian passport and I'm not sure if I have Ukrainian citizenship. It does say of course in my passport that I was born there.
Is it safe for me to travel there? I used to go frequently, but that was before maidan. Haven't been there since

I should specify:
I don't mean safe as in safe from military activities like in the East, but rather safe as in not getting stopped in the streets because I speak Russian or getting held up at the borders because I was born there and getting conscripted or something
>>
>>1108824
Yeah.. It's pretty much safe out there. Lots of russian speaking tourists in Lviv. Noone really cares about it (And Odessa is almost 100% russian speaking city). And nope, no conscription at the borders
Western Ukraine is basically the same as it was before

Guys, I haven't flown overseas in 6 years on account of living in AUSTRALIA. I'm going to Europe this June, but whenever I go searching for tickets I can only find south east Asian airlines offering tickets that I can afford and it makes me really anxious. I would prefer to fly with Qantas or Emirites but I just can't spend 3k on tickets.

Do you guys feel anxious flying with budget airlines, or do you just not give a shit? How do you deal?
6 replies and 0 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>1108774
Budget airlines still have to abide by the same safety standards if that's what you're worried about. The only difference is in service, it's usually shittier. I fly budget airlines all the time cause I'm a cheap jew but I don't have big expectations for flying, I just want to use them to get from point a to b.
>>
No, not really. As a fellow ausfag, I get worried for maybe 30 mins after the plane takes off, then I'm just bored and nauseous for the next 8-14 hours. You need to become a bit of a nihilist for that flight.

Singapore Airlines is top-tier, or at least I thought it was last time I flew with them. Thai isn't bad either - I flew with them through Lufthansa, and the Thai flight crew and service was a lot nicer than the Germans (the Lufthansa flight from Bangkok to Frankfurt didn't even have TVs.)

Related - Qantas is shit and far, far too overpriced for what you get.
>>
>>1108774
Try flying with Singapore or Thai if you can.

Most people sitting around in a hostel are happy to go see some sites with whoever is around.

What's the best way to get from Helsinki to Tallinn? I know it's by ferry but which service is the best? For some reason this issue is causing me a lot of anxiety. There are several different services and a lot of them have bad reviews or are too expensive. I almost booked with a service called Linda Line but backed out after the reading of their excessive and unexpected cancelations, not to mention their extremely sketchy payment system for there website.

Anyways what is the best way to get between the two cities? Is booking ahead necessary or could I pay at...

I don't know what sites you've been using and I don't have much experience either as I live in Tartu but you might find this site useful:
laevapiletid .ee /en

Don't think it's much use worrying about bad reviews if all you need to do is cross the bay, which admittedly is still a bit tricky for how much traffic there is.

It'd probably be smart to book ahead in terms of both ticket prices and overbooking, which might or might not be a problem, depending on when you're going.

If you have any more questions,...

Thanks for the reply, I think I've decided on Eckerö Line. They are cheap and they sail directly from city center to city center.

Since I have your attention, there were a few other questions I was hoping you could answer. What is best way to travel in-between the baltic countries. After Tallinn I will be going to Riga and Finally Vilnius. I've heard the train systems in the Baltics are not quite up to the standards of other European countries, however I've read that buses are cheap and...

While they are convenient between getting from city to city, it's true that the current train lines don't have many connections and they certainly don't connect between the baltics at the moment, those plans are still underway.

Buses are a good choice if you want to save some mad dosh. Luxexpress and Ecolines are the two buslines you can check out, sometimes they have capital to capital transfers for pretty much pocket change.
Superbus is another budget company that I use to go to Tallinn sometimes for like 2€, and word went around that they're...

Hey guys,

I'm a guy from Holland, 19 years old and I don't really know what the fuck to do with my life. After may I'm graduating and I don't wanne rush into college before I have seen more of the world and know what I really want to do. after my exams, I wanne work for a few months and save some money. So I can travel around the end of September. I can't really find someone to travel with and going alone seems lonely too. As for a destination, I just thought about touring Europe but I'm up for other things as long as it doesn't cost too much. I'm interested in traveling with both male and female. I'm gay so ladies might be more comfortable traveling with me but honestly, I'm not fucking interested in anything romantic, so if your a straight guy I promise I won't rape you and we could travel just fine ;-).
send an email if your interested to: [email protected]

Cheers
