This is the trip i am planning, on a 110cc $400 fake honda motorbike i'll buy in Hanoi.

I've worked out 16 days of riding, going only 200km a day, 21 days when you include days to gear up and days set asside for just relaxing on a beach, and will make flight bookings for 25 days to allow for more fuck ups along the way

my dad is trying to get me to cut out Cambodia and Thailand and stick to one country. But i really want some Thai food... thoughts?

Also, i am a 25 year old virgin, should i try and lose it whilst i am there? with other western tourists of course not prostitutes

Hi, I am a Canadian and I will be travelling to India, there are some electronics that I want to take aboard, which includes my PS3, laptop, PSP and a phone. My main concern is my PS3, I plan on taking it on a carry-on bag, I've heard people saying that the PS3 is treated same as a laptop, but the other thing is I have this massive arcade controller as well, would I put the controllers and PS3 together for the X-ray screening during the security check or I can put it in my other luggage bag which goes straight to the plane? Also HDMI wires and other wires should I keep them in a different bag to avoid hassle or the same bag? Another one of my concern is, what are the chances of frying my electronics in India, do I need a converter/transformer for electronics like laptops and PS3? because Canadian voltage is 110 v and there it is 220 v.

Hey everyone, In a few months I am traveling to Saigon for a teaching job, I am very excited about it but as the date for me to leave comes closer and closer I am feeling a growing sense of anxiety. The anxiety isn't really coming from the job part, but mostly the part about traveling on a plane for 20 hours to a country that I am not familiar with and where I don't know anyone. I should point out that this is not the first time I am traveling outside the U.S, my parents use to take me to Europe when I was a kid and teenager, but this is the first time I am going somewhere by myself.

The anxiety I can't really pin point to one specific reason, I just keep thinking about something going wrong during the travel or when I first arrive. Like me forgeting something that I need at home, the fact that I need to transfer planes in Dubai(which I don't know why bothers me). And a bunch of other things, sorry I can't really give specifics about what is bothering me, just general nervousness about traveling for such a distance and arriving in an unknown land. I just kinda feel like I am unprepared for all of this ,if that makes sense. I have this impending fear that something is going to go wrong during my travels or when I arrive.

Has anyone else experienced something similar to this? Any advice on how to overcome this mostly irrational fear and anxiety. Thanks a lot.

Well it's a big change. Weird would it be if you were completely relaxed.
I don't know how to overcome this. I recently changed continents myself and I was pretty nervous too.
But in the end, change is good anon. Accept it. Enjoy it.
You're going to have fun.
>>
Transfer is easy, especially if you have time. Airports are structured well plus there are signs everywhere.

When you land go find the connecting gate, then check time and explore the airport and eat. You already know where it is. If you get lost just ask. But it's gonna be easy.

Always important is research how to get from saigon airport to your first bed.
Check wiki gravel and lonely planet to and from airport.
You'll then know what to do, just make a plan. Like landing then taxi stand at arrival hall. Or train or whatever. Keep the address where you go handy and offline. Maybe get maps me and download offline maps to your phone.

Once you slept the first night get a simcard and data. Its your knowledge superpower. Something seems fishy, too expensive or you're lost? Google.

If you do that nothing major will go wrong. Settling in will only take a few days. If you're unfamiliar don't spend any big sums of money or be overly trusting

I remember the first time I traveled alone on a plane to a foreign country, I was 8. It was the most terrifying thing ever and the idea of living in another country was even worse. I guess it's kind of a similar experience.
Next time I did it, I even made friends on the plane and we still talk to each other.
Don't worry, you'll be fine. You'll be use to it before you realize.
Have fun.

Hi,

I've been to Slovenia twice before and I absolutely loved it for many reasons. My wife and I have already seen:
- Bled / Vintgar
- Bohinj / Vogel / Slap Savica
- Triglav National Park / Vrsic Pass / Soca valley / Slap Kozjak
- Ljubljana
- Postojna caves
- Skocjan caves
- Piran / Izola / Sečovlje salt-pans / Portoroz

We've been to some of these things twice actually. We're thinking about going to Slovenia again because we love the country.

Maribor is on our to-visit list and should be fun. But other than that, what things (particularly in the east of Slovenia as we haven't been to that area) should we go see?

Ps.
We don't care about horses, so we don't really think we'd like Lipica.

And we've already seen Predjama as well.
>>
Ps ps.
We already saw Mostnica gorge as well.

Slovenian here, originally from Velenje, grew up in Celje. Both cities are within one hour drive from Maribor, both cities have pretty cool castles but you can spend max two hours on any of these sights before you get bored. Ptuj is the oldest city in Slovenia so you can be certain you will see some old cool stuff there. City of Laško has a very good fine dining restaurant on the castle called Pavus if you are into that sort of thing. East of the country has a lot of spas but you will mostly find old drunk russians there. Certian hills are known for good quality wine. If you have any specific questions, fire away.

Yes. The two moments that were easily the best were when he was kidnapped by 'terrorists' in Israel and his discussion with the Russian taxi drivers about train travel.

He's such a miserable fuck, but yes.

I think it's okay. I find the very enjoyable bits too far and few. I think there could be a better mix between him being miserable and actually learning about the places.

There's nothing to be worried about in France, the UK, or Italy. While the city of Paris has had two attacks in the past year, that doesn't really make the country of France more dangerous (and arguably Paris is only slightly more dangerous seeing as 32 million people travel there every year and just over 100 were killed in both attacks). France is a big country, and if you are that worried about violence, you can experience some of the best of France without ever stepping foot in Paris

In general, every country has had its share of terrorist violence. If you ruled out every country that experienced such attacks, you would probably be left only with Switzerland and a handful of other countries. Hell, even Tokyo suffered a terrorist attack in 1995. Don't let that fear stop you from travelling. The only thing you reasonably have to worry about is typical tourist-affecting crimes which occur in every country, like theft and scams.

If anything, Paris might even be one of the safer Euro capitals now because they are likely going balls to the wall on counter terrorism and security...

So in a few days, ill be in Bulgaria all by myself for 3 days before i head onward into Romania and one thing that i have always wanted to see is the Buzludzha Monument in the mountains (pic related).

For me its a combination of cold war history, abandoned places, awe inspiring architecture and communist ideology that drives me to want to go to this place, even though it is a very large detour on what is a very small trip into Bulgaria.

Ever since i saw a post about it on trv 2 years ago by some anon ive wanted to go there and visit it for myself, though as an Australian its obvious that such an opportunity doesn't come around often, though im in the area now and im willing to make a side trip to see it.

As this is the place that i first heard about it, im hoping some anons might have been there recently and know how to get there because the information on the internet is all years old, currently i'm traveling solo and thus have a few questions...

1. How do i get there? Ill be staying in Sofia but have the chance to come down to Kazanlak (the closest major town) for a night.
2. Whats the security situation? Is it guarded, because i know its officially 'closed' and the doors sealed (though i know theres other entrances where people have broken in).
3. Is it dangerous? I have proper winter gear and hiking boots, desu im more worried about shady Bulgarian men with knives hiding in the dark waiting for tourists.

PLEASE, if anyone has any info on the place id really appreciate it...

Even better, if you knew a local or guide that could take me there it would be fab, just come contact details, desu i really just dont want to go alone because i dont know the area, its cold and its abandoned, i dont travel solo much so its a tad spooky.

Dont want to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity, because if pics are anything to go by it looks like it will be a pile of rubble within the decade.

Ask your hotel if they do 'ufo' tours.

They generally last about a day and leave from Sofia.

Also yeh, dont go alone in winter, the place is prone to blizzards.

I'm working in Moscow right now as an American and I've got a few questions about this place.

What is the best way to eat cheaply aside from cooking at home? Obviously I do my own cooking, but if I'm in a situation where I'm away from my place for a while, what are the best options?

Also which social media do girls use to hook up with guys? Do people use tinder here or is that just something that foreigners use?

Do people still go to concerts in abandoned warehouses and shit like that?

I am working in Moscow as well right now (Australian). I mostly cook and eat out just a few times a week.

If you want some decent sushi though, a place called Yakitoria has an app where you order and they have free delivery. You can easily get a meals worth of sushi for 800-1000RUB.

One of my favourites is a restaurant called 'Voronezh' just by metro Kropotkinskaya. They have a deli downstairs and you can get a nice big pastrami sandwich for under 400RUB.

I'm in Melbourne if that helps.
Thanks guis

How much money should I exchange into local currency BEFORE going to my destination? Or should I exchange it only when I get there?

I'm able to stay at the house of a friends, he has a free room for me.
However, for the first night I'm staying at a 3star hotel because of the registration for $16

Before I knew this I found great rooms on monthly basis per airbnb, but they are not that cheap like in smaller Asian cities

I'm in adelaide for quite some time. How is it? What to do? Is it a nice city? I'm from Germany and lived in Sydney before, it was shit: loud, dirty, expensive. What do I have to expect going to Adelaide?
Every hint welcome

I met a copper from Adelaide. Darren, I believe he was called. Say hi for me.
>>
As someone who lives in Adelaide, my advice is follows: it's pretty quite this time of year concerning festivals and all but there's heaps still to do. If you up for a hike or walking, mt lofty and Cleland conservation park are nice. Otherwise your best bet is around rundle mall and north terrace. The museum and art gallery are nice for killing a few hours.

Adelaide is definately better than Sydney. Probably because it's much smaller but everything is pretty easily accessible, cleaner, and the city looks nicer in my experience.

Food is okay if you know where to look, I don't have a lot of experience with the Friday night or clubbing scene. You might find things expensive but compared to cities like Melbourne or Sydney, I'd say it's worth it.
Hope this helps you have a nice time here

Another idea I just had, south Australia is well known for its wine. If you're into that the Adelaide hills and barossa valley are a decent drive away but full of wineries

I want to move to the UK and get a job (even as a kitchen porter)

When I was there a few years ago there was a semi-decent museum, but visit the tourist info center. There's plenty of things to do in the surrounding area and they tend to have good knowledge of everything at reasonable rates.

Do Ferrymead Heritage Park.

It's an elaborate outdoor history museum, including a old timey electric tram and also a separate steam train. One of the steam locomotives is the oldest working example in the country. The tram also has an extremely rare steam tram that is used on occasion.

How do I overcome jet lag? How long until it wears off?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Stay hydrated.

Get on the local time with your sleep and waking as fast as you can. (Avoid, if possible, long naps during the day, for example. Don't be fanatical about i, but do the best you can.)

I try to eat light and healthy, at least until I'm feeling normal no idea if that really helps.

Avoid alcohol, it dehydrates.

Generally I am not troubled for more than a day or two at the beginning of a trip, when my energy and excitement are high. Generally it takes me longer and the effects are stronger after the return home -- I'm tired from traveling have burned up some reserves, and am dealing with jetlag now for the second time in a short period.

Ever trip and every person can be different, of course.
